advanced relaying questions
Hey there listmembers!
Two realying questions :
1) Have anyone out there tested how many relays a single icecast
1.3.10 server can serv? Ive been doing tests with the amount of
sourcestreams a icecastserver can handle but not realys?
2) Bug in icecast 1.3.10 adding more than one realy in the alias list
in icecast.conf will make icecast realying the first source in
aliaslist correctly the rest is wrong because icecast somehow
replace the source with its own localadresse? Let me give an

Tracking Listeners with Key and other parameters
I have an app that I've built that leverages the auth functionality of
icecast2 to track when listeners are added to the stream and monitor
what they listen to.
I've ran in to an issue where if a listener disconnects for a few
seconds then reconnects, I track them as a new user.
I can't track by ip cause there may be a few people listening from the
same public ip.
In the docs I

IceCast status - raw XML output
...| node()">
<xsl:copy>
<xsl:apply-templates select="@* | node()"/>
</xsl:copy>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>
With this simple file it's easy to check IceCast's status in bath scripts. For example:
LISTENERS=`curl -sf http://icecastserver:59000/status-raw.xsl|xmllint --xpath "/*/source[@mount='/radiost']/listeners/text()" -`

liveice Question
Thanks William and Scott, I appreciate the help.. Liveice and Icecast
Rock!
Ive had one stream running, non stop @ 128k for over 60 hours without a
reset, restart, or a reload of anything.. Is this par for the course?
And about that keepalive script.. Would you (or someone) be willing to
send me a sample so as I change whats needed and implement it?
Thanks a bunch!

Connecting to yp.shoutcast.com

Perhaps the real question you should ask is..."should" anyone worry
about this at all?
Personally speaking, I've been streaming for quite a while (barring a
few networking problems) and I've always seen the same behavior from
the shoutcast (Nullsoft) people.

Updating show titles (was Re: a new directory service)

The name of the stream is unchanging, just as it's URL should be. Just
come up with a name that's not DJ specific.

final question: how many mountpoints can icecast handle ?
Hi everyone
I have one final question regarding my
diploma work. As it seems, the hardware performance
seems not to be the bottleneck when streaming out
ONE stream to x clients.
What happens when I use instead of ONE stream
different streams, because my concept is an on-demand
radio station that basically provides everyone with
access to a huge library of music files and lets him

question about icecast & winamp & media player
Hi,
It's been pretty quiet as of late.
I have a question.
I have an icecast server housed at my provider with a very good internet
connection.
At work I'm using an ADSL line, which should be sufficient to listen to
the 128K streams I'm sending out.
However, when I listen with WinAmp, after about half an hour the stream
stutters and stops. I can restart it and listen again but it
