Hi Thomas,
I have not found a good solution yet. I did find a tiny app called "iaxping".
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/3029621/com/iaxping-0-1mdv2007.0.i586.rpm.html
This worked well to test the connection, but I could not get it to
exit cleanly. I was thinking I might try to fix the code, but I'm not
much of a C programmer. The source code (iaxping.c) is...

Help, please help -- IAX2 softphone to server on LAN
...t to a PSTN termination service.
Thus far, the PSTN termination connection works fine
-- I've opened up 4569 with iptables, and forwarded
4569 to the server IP. I am not, however, having any
luck connecting the softphone to the server.
I can telnet, ftp, and http to the server, but not
IAX2. Iaxping times out, registration by Idefisk and
Firefly also times out.
The server fails to see the client as well.
Here's a portion of my iax.conf:
[client]
type=friend
username=client
secret=******
host=192.168.1.40
context=clientcon
and extensions.conf:
[clientcon]

IAX connections broken
Dear All:
I have several boxes that up and running just great, then we changed
internet equipment due to a lightning strike, now all my inbound IAX
connections (iax2 show peers) have unknown status. If I log into the
remote boxes, it says "Request sent."
The authentications haven't changed at all, and all the iax.conf
settings are correct. It looks like a firewall issue, but

IAX with shaw cable not going through
I just changed the from DSL to Shaw Cable (static IP) configure the
firewall but now asterisk I can not register with FWD nor VoipJet calls
going out.
I am using IAX with FWD
Did I missed to change a setting? I don't think there is any though.
I am on shaw extreme connection; I just talked shaw tech. and they are
not blocking any port - I was told.
So why IAX will not register with FWD and

IAX Ping for perl or python
I am looking at writing a script to basically perform
the same as the iaxping.exe that has been referenced
on the wiki, but I would rather it not be in vb6.
is the source code for the existing vb6 app GPL'd so
that I could base a perl script off of it? Or do I
need to start from scratch?
Also, if anyone has some example code or has already
undertaken this proje...

Asterisk AMI - Create a daemon (background process)
I wanted to create a daemon (background process) in PHP. A daemon will use
socket to connect with Asterisk AMI to send events and listen the actions.
A daemon will also listen the commands from agents via HTTP, for example:
A agent pressed a hang up button on a browser - it will send http command
to a daemon. A daemon received a command and will then send Hang Up Action
to AMI.
How should a

Asterisk monitoring with Nagios and IAX
Hi *,
Does anyone have a lead on a Nagios plugin that speaks IAX or a small
app to do so? I'm trying to set up remote monitoring for my Asterisk
server and only IAX2 traffic is allowed through the firewall. Simply
using check_udp to port 4569 yields no usable answer and Asterisk
complains about receiving a midget packet or something like that :)

(newby) Is PING a good indicator of latency?
As the subject line says: Is PING a good indicator of network latency? If
not, how can I measure latency?
Thanks,
