HP8100 & samba
just having finished this *MOST* frustrating exercise, here's what i
ended up doing.
i downloaded a file from the hp ftp site called:
hpwj_solaris_en.tar.Z
(see
http://whp-web1.extweb.hp.com/cposupport/networking/software/SOLd615.PKG.html
)
this is a complete configuration setup utility that configures your
solaris machine to serve the printer. and then you point samba to the

printing issues - lprng
...I am running samba and lprng for 4 hp laserjets. Sometimes a
samba print job goes to the wrong printer. Normally everything works just
fine. Shown below is the lprng acct log file enries for the concerned print
job. Please notice that the print job was supposed to go to hp4050-mail,
but ended up in hp8100. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
Thanks

spoolss causing driver issues
Hi,
I have a problem. I upgraded from samba 2.0.7 to 2.2.3 recently, and
one of my 2 printers have driver issues.
Whenever I print to SAVIN 2545, I get binary and hieroglyphics, so
I assumed that it's driver-related. I can print to our HP8100 just fine.
Some machines were still configured with:
"\\server\savin", LAN Manager Printer
These machines STILL print fine.
However, if one DELETEs the printer, and re-adds it, it becomes:
"Samba Printer Port", Local Port (since the new samba must trigger
the windows client...

Can't do Landscape with ManualFeed
...rom: "SMITH Gregory C." <gsmith () ahbl ! ca>
The response basicly seemed to be: It is fixed in 2.2.6pre2.
I seem to have the problem with 2.2.7a.
I think both "printers" are using the same the driver as the test system (Win2k)
I installed had no drivers for the printer (HP8100) prior to the
accessing "\\new\printer" and the driver I subsequently used when prompted
to install local drivers for "\\old\printer" were picked from the available
drivers on the test system. I did a "disable printer" on the Solaris systems
so I could capture the res...

cupsaddsmb -v, Warning: PPD file not found?!
Hello all,
I am running a Debian testing/unstable system with samba 2.2.3a-6 and
cupsys 1.1.15-4 as a member server in a samba domain. I have used CUPS to
add a networked HP8100N printer and it works fine locally, but I'm having
difficulty adding it to samba for Win98 domain clients to use.
I ran cupsaddsmb to add the printer and drivers to samba, but it cannot
find the PPD file... where is it looking for this to be???
