X flag in smbpasswd?
mksmbpasswd.sh does not create accounts with the X flag in the password
flags field. Does this X matter, and if so, what does it mean? It's not in
the man page.

Mounting Windows Shares from Linux
Hi All,
I'm sure this has been discussed many times but since I do not have

Logwatch - malformed password entry(uid not number)
Hi All,
I've the following in the logs and am wondering why they are there.
I also keep getting emails from SAMBA log-deamon (or something like that).
[2003/05/19 15:24:29, 0] passdb/pdb_smbpasswd.c:getsmbfilepwent(364)
getsmbfilepwent: malformed password entry (uid not number)
It's not really serious (at least to me) but it's a cause for concern. Below
are the details

Can't find samba server after new NIC installed
Hi All,
Perhaps you guys can help me shed some light on this 'problem' I'm
facing.
I recently added another NIC to my samba server. eth0(10.0.0.251) and
eth1(valid dhcp address)
ETH0 was added to connect to another PC that acts as the backup server.
(dedicated connection)
Now, Samba won't come back up.. I can still ssh into the server and all.
Any ideas? I know that the wins

Samba Shares and Win32 Viruses
Hi Collective users of Samba, (does has a nice ring to it eh?)
Recently I found a my samba server being infected by win32 viruses.
Though it does not affect the server in any way, I do find them to be
an annoyance.
I understand also that I can perform "veto" of files like *.exe in smb.conf
but find that to be a wee bit restrictive. There are some users who
stores valid executables in

How protect bash history file, do audit alike in server
hello,
I want to protect the history file from deleted for all users except
user 'root' can do it, is that possible?
For my server, many users can log in with root from remote through
ssh, so I can not trace which guy do wrong things. So I decide to create
new account for every users and let them use 'sudo' then I can trace
which guy typed which command and what he

[PATCH 1/1] drm/nouveau: Use generic helper to check _PR3 presence
Replace nouveau_pr3_present() in favor of a more generic one,
pci_pr3_present().
Also the presence of upstream bridge _PR3 doesn't need to go hand in
hand with device's _DSM, so check _PR3 before _DSM.

How does tinc server handle the case one client's key file is removed after connection
Hi Guys,
Say when tinc is running all good, the "server" contains all the key files
of clients.
If we remove the key file for client A during run, how long before does
server find out the key
file is gone? I see a "KeyExpire" option in the conf file, is this the time?
In my own experiment, the client will still be able to connect to the tinc
network even if the key file is

How does tinc server handle the case one client's key file is removed after connection
Thanks Guus for the quick answer, I will give a try now.
Рысь,
In my case we don't want to restart tinc "server" at all, therefore what
might
happen is that the client is still connected to server while its public key
was already
removed from server.
I will try the signal approach.

run many linear regressions against the same independent variables in batch
R function
lm(response ~ term)
allows me to run a linear regression on a single response vector. For
example, I have recent one year historical prices for a stock and S&P
index. I can run regression of the stock prices (as response vector)
against the S&P index prices (as term vector).
Now assume I have 1000 stocks to run the above regressions (against the
same S&P index prices).

Something to add. When this happened, it looks like tinc shutdown

tinc exit when there is no internet?
Thanks for the reply.
I am running tinc (1.0.24) in an embedded linux environment, with a pretty
old kernel (2.6).
I have let tinc run for almost 24 hours with internet and can't reproduce
the issue.

Traffic Control
So after reading the traffic control documentation at shorewall.net I am
a little confused. I don''t understand how to use the tcrules file.
What I would ideally like to do is setup htb on a per user basis (either
by IP or MAC address). If anybody has any hints on the best way to do
this or is willing to explain the use of tcrules file a little better
(how I could mark it per IP or MAC)
