ipsec for linux 2.4 eventually made easy?!
hi there,
I just wanted to share a recent discovery I did on how to setup a secure
VPN implementation for linux 2.4.x (I''m using 2.4.20 but it should be
working, as far as documentation states, for > 2.4.18) without using
FreeS/WAN.
The tool (ipsec_tunnel: http://ringstrom.mine.nu/ipsec_tunnel/, by
Tobias Ringström) is a kernel module based on ipip and ip_gre. It uses

Selecting ranges of dates from a dataframe
...so I'm sure this isn't the best
solution.
The for-loop does it's job, but as I said is really slow. My data is for 21
days and 1 line per second.
Is there a better way to select the date-ranges instead of a for-loop? The
line where I select all values for "day" seems to be the heaviest. Any idea?
Kind regards,
Benjamin
PS: I attached some sample data, in case you want to try for yourself.

Slow RAID Check/high %iowait during check after updgrade from CentOS 6.5 -> CentOS 7.2
All of our Kafka clusters are fairly write-heavy. The cluster in question is our second-heaviest ? we haven?t yet upgraded the heaviest, due to the issues we?ve been experiencing in this one.
Here is an iostat example from a host within the same cluster, but without the RAID check running:

Lower bit rates crashing ices

of what I'm interested in are the artifacts created through the
compression process. Because of that, I'm trying to tweak ices to do the
heaviest compression possible on the sound that is fed into it. However,
right now if I set compression below a particular bitrate, ices just
fails to run. Here is the code for my 'encode' section:

Monitoring transcoding and other heavy activities
Hi,
often on this list I read about transcoding as the heaviest activity for an
Asterisk server, together with high IRQ rate (especially with Digium
cards...).
Is there a way to monitor if Asterisk is engaged (by mistake or by design)
in transcoding or any other heavy activity?
Or a checklist to follow to diagnose these 'bad' behaviours?
Thanks

Are zttest results relevant on a system with no telephony hardware?
Our asterisk system gains access to the PSTN through a voip provider.
We have no digium or other telephony hardware in our system. Do the
zttest results still matter to us? Our results were as follows:
--- Results after 1007 passes ---
Best: 100.000000 -- Worst: 99.780273 -- Average: 99.975763

Metadata
Having not been reading the list regularly for the past few months, I've
been reading through for the past few days trying to catch up. I was
wondering what the current state of Vorbis metadata was. Has anything
been agreed upon as far as how metadata is to be stored? It seems every
time this was brought up before it turned into a large debate and nothing
was ever resolved.

Dual Intel? Xeon? X5650, 2.66Ghz, 12M Cache,Turbo, HT, 1333MHz or Single

the original NN sheme checks the energy of residue partitions
of size 32 (long) and 8 (short). in case the energy drops as
an effect of the quantization the samples which caused the
heaviest energy losses are altered thus increasing energy
and approximating the original level.
the NN sheme in 1.0.1 just increases energy in case it
dropped. usually quantization results in an energy boost (for
SNRs above 2 dB). but this situation is not handled
by the current NN sheme because this effec...

Eaton 5PX 3rd party batteries
Hello,
nut recently told me that the batteries need replacing in my Eaton 5PX2200RT (ups) and 5PXEBM48RT (external battery pack). According to my notes, it has been just over 4 years since I installed them. Looking at on-line sales, these seem to use batteries in a pre-packaged plastic shell. I don't recall if that's what's in my units or not.
Do you have any experience with
