Hello.
I have a pretty strange problem with routing and iptables mark.
My firewall has a classic 3 NIC config: one nic connected to the
ISP routers, one network for DMZ and the third network for my
private network. Here is the schema:

Red Alarm TE110P
Hi!
I'm trying to setup a Wildcard TE110P with a PRI in The Netherlands.
I get a Red Alarm on the line.
Is there any way of debugging this? I've tried some configs that should
work but without success. Is there any way of telling if the cabling is
correct or what else the problem could be?
Thanks!!

Is Bell HDSL in Ontario good solution for VOIP?
Hi,
Have you tried it?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
I can have it at C$200, is that a good price?
Thanks a lot.

T-1 vs channelised T-1?
OK. Now I show my ignorance.
What's the difference between a T-1 and a channelised T-1? I see that
Covad's voip service (formerly GoBeam) requires a channelised T-1. Then
I read recently on the list that many T-1s being installed are actually
HDSL....which would be not a T-1 at all...right?

traffic shaping , where?
Hi
I would want to use the patch for squid released by patrick mcHardy, but
it requires that squid is located on the same machine that does traffic
shaping. My configuration is different:
i have the screening HDSL router directly connected to a multi-ethernet
firewall and the proxy located on a DMZ box.
i would want the firewall doing traffic shaping.

Centos to use two ISP concurrently..?
...entos working as a proxy (squid) on a 2 Mb bandwidth plan that's
serving 20 users. it's all good though our need for speed is increasing
by the day.
soon enough i'll be serving up to 60 user, hence the need to get higher
bandwidth though here where the problem is.
as i'm using HDSL, 2 Mb is the highest plan available.
hence, i need to get 2 HDSL subscriptions, in other words 2 modems/IPs
to work with.. ( 2 x 2 Mb)
the possibility to use routing table isn't feasible as these two ISP's would only be used for browsing, so routing destinations one way or the other isn...

Connecting Siemens HiCom PBX with Asterisk through E1
...standard cat5 cable cut off on one edge and twisted wires 1 to 4

2. I've tried to connect our running E1 line from the telco with wildcard. The

work. I even tried to connect the copper wires by hand which resulted that
the modem gave me a green power light but Wildcard stayed on a waving red
light.

Centos as Gateway ? (Router/transparent proxy)
Hi All,
I'm lately suffering from Quota abuse at home. believe it or not my
teenagers are eating through my allowed quota.
Hence, i'm thinking of setting up a centos machine to work as such:
HDSL modem(natted to an onboard dhcp service for lan users) -> Centos -
> Switch - LAN users
Hw specs:
3 GB ram
3.0 core 2 duo
2 X 1 TB HDD
2 X 1 Gb NIC
Centos will contain the following:
1. DHCP # is there a way i could use the modem's dhcp service
instead? or using a centos bas...

Should I choose DSL @ 1.5 or a full T1?
I'm looking to expand my bandwidth for my Asterisk PBX.
Why should I choose a T1 over DSL for my asterisk server?
I found someone offering T1's for $290 a month + Loops or 3 Meg for $561 a month + Loops. Is this a good deal?
Thanks
Bart

Dry Copper Pair
Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to get a dry copper pair (also known as an alarm
line) from Verizon for less than $20/end? I know we have been able to get
them, but they come out to $40/month for a circuit.. and there's no
dial-tone over it!!!!

OT: DSL without voice
A lot of people are going for the "VOIP only" approach, but SBC says you
have to have an active analog voice circuit before they will sell you DSL.
Does anybody know which DSL providers will sell you DSL without making you
pay for a voice circuit?
Thanks in advance,

geo-replication loops
...office and remote-office2 too.
In short, this is the scenario I would like to achieve with GlusterFS
geo-replication:
remote-office1 <--> central-office <--> remote-office2
Obviously, it's possible to create an unique volume among all
facilities, but they are connected with 2mbits HDSL and we don't want
that user applications get stuck if the network is saturated or
unreliable.
Does this scenario is feasible?
Every suggestion is highly appreciated, thanks!

the Upper Ski lodge. From there I use an HDSL bridge about 3 miles
down the hill to the lower lodge. Both lodges have a small size LAN
about 25 computers. I also run some ethernet extender over copper to a
couple other buildings and some WAP's these are all inside the
employee lodge and one of the main day lodges.
As you can see it is a v...

tbf : rate and effective speed (newbie)
Probably this is an old question, but i''m not able to find nothing about...
So, i''ve just started to play with tc to limit the transfer speed to my

# tc qdisc add dev eth0 root tbf rate 10kbit latency 50ms burst 1000
Then i''ve tried to transfer a big (20 Mbyte) file onto my lan, using ftp
and the client (ncftp) is saying that the average transfer speed is

Asterisk and sites connected via IP-VPN
Just wanted to get a feel for people in the community.
I researched a lot of information but I wanted to know the communities
perspective on this and didnt want to revive a dead thread:
Any pros/cons for connection to asterisk boxes located at different sites
via an IP-VPN or Frame Relay?
I wanted to know the best cost effective way to connect the two remote
boxes other than the Internet.
