My problem is I dont know how to come out with a value of ssdw. For example, if the value of gw1=gw2 (which mean equal trimming), the result will come out as "a" not the value of ssdw when equal trimming is done. I f anyone could with this, I really appreciate it. I need the value of ssdw so that I can proceed with computing the F test. Thanks.

routing based on user id
Hi all!
I''ve got 2 (soon 3) internet connection. 1 - via ADSL, 2(and3) via ppp
My network:
http://desima.objectis.net/network-diag
linux1:
user1.user2
eth0=192.168.1.1
ppp0=192.168.5.2( gw 192.168.5.1)
gw=192.168.1.2 ( thru ADSL)
compA=192.168.1.6
compB=192.168.1.15
gw2=192.168.1.217 via ppp to different ISP
All works for compA and CompB,
user1 should use default gw(192.168.1.2)
user2 should use ppp0
For user2 it will work only if I change his route thru gw2(not ppp0):
iptables -A OUTPUT -t mangle -m owner --uid-owner 1006 -j MARK --set-mark=0x1

Multiple Internet connections with Dynamic IP addresses
Cristian and Alex,
Both of you have asked about this. A routing table can only have one default
route so when the second link comes up, adding the second default route will
fail. So in general, Shorewall can only reliably detect the gateway for
P-T-P connections which is what the CVS current code does.

Guild Wars 2 hangs on start
Hi,
I would appreciate any help with getting Guild Wars 2 to run on Debian Linux (KDE, testing). When I hit the "Play" button on the start screen, the music starts to play but the GW2 window only shows the underlying console window. It just sits there and has to be killed manually.

Guild wars 2 and other translucent windows
How's wine support coming with translucent windows?
Guild wars 2 has a new launcher that makes extensive use of transparency to mimic the in-game interface, but of course, it turns into a massive black square here.
Screenshot of the launcher, all that is black is supposed to be transparent:

I know it's nitpicky but google implied some progress on this and I

Wierd traceroute/routing problem
...39;m having a very strange problem concerning traceroute and routing

asking. (so sorry if my question is misplaced)
I have the following setup:

--- switch --users (public and private ip addresses; ip-user-pub)
from the internet:
Traceroute to a ip-user-pub shows: public ip gw1 --> 172.16.0.2 --> ip-user-pub
I tried using SNAT on gw2 so that instead of 172.16.0.2 I would get
one of the public ip addresses I have on gw2.
It seems tha...

Guild Wars 2 for wine - what is needed?
Very soon Guild Wars 2, the MMO we've all been waiting for (right? right!) is coming, and I would like to do my part to make sure that it runs under Wine from day one. Especially as GW1 is one of the top-performing games under Wine.
Now I am not an avid coder, but I will pre-purchase the CE, and with it comes access to all the beta events between April 10 and release. So there should be

DGD patch not detecting dead gateway
Hello all!
I applied http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/routes-2.6.8-10.diff patch to kernel
2.6.8.1 and it works fine, or almost fine. It does the load balancing
well, but when one link is dropped it continues to try it.
At the end of http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/nano.txt it is said to ping
gateway 1 and gateway 2, for the kernel to know if that route is
working, but since my linux is connected to the links

Memory leak
...mer called me and said that their VPN isn't working
anymore. I have a very simple setup, with two gateways (running
tincd 1.0pre8-3 on Debian 3.0 stable), linking two subnets.
So I noticed that tincd on second gateway isn't running anymore. Checking
logs revealed:
syslog.0:Apr 4 06:04:10 gw2 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 15903
(tincd).
syslog.0:Apr 4 06:04:12 gw2 tinc.gw2[15903]: Terminating
Obviously tincd ate all the memory, and kernel killed it. Memory leak?
So, I recompiled it with a patch recommended in
http://mail.nl.linux.org/tinc/2003-03/msg00020.html
and it seems...

Under these circumstances the provider refuses to route the packets. Eg:

suppose 10.0.0.254 is the default gateway for table ''main''.
iptables -t mangle -A OUTPUT -d $TEST -p icmp -j MARK --set-mark $MARK
ip rule add fwmark $MARK table adsl2
Now a ping to $TEST would result in icmp packets s...
