Wanted: XCP 1.1 tutorial for creating VMs from scratch using xe CLI
Hello, It is nearly not possible to use XCP without a tutorial, in particular if ones has to use the xe CLI. Reading of reference.pdf and guests.pdf of XenServer and different wiki pages didn''t help enough. Even *XCP seems to be a very good software* it will be useless without good documentation because of it''s complexity. Thank you in advance for any hints. Regards, Mark

Need to migrate a centos image from xen source to xenserver
Have an Onapp system we are migrating away from to xenserver and it uses Xen source images I believe. I had no problem moving the MS Windows servers using the xenconvert utility, but not being a linux guy the conversion process of moving files from Onapp to xenserver is not clear. I think the files on Onapp are .img files, but they don''t use extensions from what I can tell when they

[XCP] iSCSI Install/Boot
I just ordered quite a few servers, and, without verifying ahead of time, ordered without hard drives planning to boot over iSCSI using the built-in network cards (NOT an iSCSI HBA). I''m wondering if anyone has tried (and hopefully succeeded) installing XCP to an iSCSI volume using a network card with iSCSI boot support and the software iSCSI initiator in XCP. Obviously I can order HDs

XCP autostart and LVM disabled
...Also does anyone know why LVM is disabled in the /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit in XCP 1.1 beta? I uncommented it and when my Host boots it does a vgchange -ay now and the LV gets mounted in the fstab. I can''t think of a reason why this isn''t the default behavior. Grant McWilliams http://grantmcwilliams.com/ Some people, when confronted with a problem, think "I know, I''ll use Windows." XCP GUI management
Xen List After planning for a year to move my Xen 3.4 classrooms to XCP I''m now making an effort. With the old system I wrote many lines of bash scripts around the xm command to group and manage my VMs. I used sudo to grant privileges for each student to start, stop, console into, reboot, and wipe their VMs without any interaction from me. Now with XCP I had the hope of moving to the

How to kickstart a guest with Centos 6.6 & Xen 4.4
Hello, I posted a question over at xenproject.org but it was recommended that I send out a message here for help. My post there: http://www.xenproject.org/help/questions-and-answers/vanilla-pv-centos-guest-via-kickstart-centos-6-6,-xen-4-4.html The TL;DR is: Everything I've found to kickstart a new vanilla rhel/centos guest points to specifying a kernel & and initrd- for RHEL/Centos 5.

[XCP] XCP NFS Root
So, a few days ago I asked about network/iSCSI booting XCP (dom0). Doesn''t seem like it''s something that very many people have done, since I didn''t get much response, so I decided to give it a shot myself. I was able to install a couple of CentOS 5 packages that help with network booting and get the system to boot off of NFS (can provide some more detail on that,

Odd behavior on Phenom II X6
I built a new box for home use, it is an ASUS M5A99X EVO 990X, the CPU is the 1075T 3.0Ghz AM3. I have 16 gigs of 1333 RAM, it is Patriot brand non - ECC. The disk is a 1TB Western Digital SATA II 3.0 mbps. I am using a USB DVD drive to do the install When I attempt to install either a generic CentOS install, it gives a Kernel panic and dies, the error says something about CPU0 and it reboots

preferred XEN dom0 OS
Hi, What is the preferred OS to use with XEN, as the dom0 host? We primarely us CentOS (currently 5.6) but it seems that the native XEN that comes with CentOS is a bit behind. [XCP] Install to Flash Media
Well, now that I''ve figured out that network booting XCP is not really going to be feasible, I''m moving on to my next option: flash media installation. The systems that I purchased have SDHC slots on them, so I figured I''d attempt to install XCP to one of these cards. I had already read that there''s a minimum disk size in the installer (apparently 12 GB in
