...ward to C 8. One more thing: I know I've been over the top on ethics "I work for a US federal contractor, but not saying more", even though there's folks like Todd, who's military. Anyway, now that I'm out, today, my line (in person) was, "I'm with the federal goverment, and I'm here to help you." Then, after they ask if I'll have to kill them, I can say, no: I've been with the NIH, and so, yes, I really meant it. I'll show up occasionally, but not like I have been. So long, and thanks for all the fish. mark

Organizations where IT has approved the use of R software
...tion. I am putting forward a request that R be considered "approved" software in my organization. Never an easy task, this is made much more difficult given that it is open source software (sends the IT gang into little fits). So, I am compiling a list of organizations (Universities, goverment, industry, etc.) that are using R and whose IT department considers it approved software. If you belong to such an organization could you please let me know? If you know of organizations that this applies to, but are not directly affiliated with them I would still be interested but please just let...

Re: bellster.net - GREATadvance
...ll have an incredibly hard time proving you that. BUT, if you start making economic profit (selling) a toll bypassing service without a gov't permit, the regulators will come to nock your door in a very short time, and you WILL have a very big fat problem. As example, in Mexico, last month the goverment closed and seized the equipment of (the major -almost a monopoly- telco complained about having competition, and the gov't quickly served them as allways) 13 of 14 established VoIP biz for not having the legal permits in place (the only left already had a permit). ===== Miguel Ruiz Velasco...

OpenSSH banner doesnot display multibyte characters like korean
Hello, The banner message displayed on the screen contain octal values instead of korean chars. Prior to ssh 5.1 the banner message would display the charaters properly. I understand that starting from 5.1 the message is passed through strnvis() function. I looked into documentation on strnvis and found that it does not support multibyte chars and doesnt work well with international chars.

FWD: [patch] scp + UTF-8
Hi, Martijn sent the following patch to me in private and agreed that i post it here. In any other program in OpenBSD base, i'd probably agree with the basic approach. Regarding OpenSSH, however, i worry whether wcwidth(3) can be used. While wcwidth(3) is POSIX, it is not ISO C. Does OpenSSH target platforms that don't provide wcwidth(3)? If so, do you think the problem can be solved

ZFS, power failures, and UPSes
Hello, I''ve looked around Google and the zfs-discuss archives but have not been able to find a good answer to this question (and the related questions that follow it): How well does ZFS handle unexpected power failures? (e.g. environmental power failures, power supply dying, etc.) Does it consistently gracefully recover? Should having a UPS be considered a (strong) recommendation or

change languages from an IVR
A customer of mine wants an IVR where the first 3 choices are 1 English 2 Spanish 3 French I can build the IVR but how do I get the system prompts to then speak the selected langauge. For example, a caller has selected Spanish and so is routed to the Spanish part of the IVR. At some point he breaks out of the IVR to leave a VM. How does the system know to continue offering him Spanish?

First, I hope that this message is not considered flame bait. As someone who has used FreeBSD for for 5+ years now, I have a genuine interest in the integrity of our source code. Second, I hope that this message is not taken as any form of insult or finger pointing. Software without bugs does not exist, and I think we all know that. Acknowledging that point and working to mitigate the risks
