Mistake in German Error message for friedman.test
There are two misspellings in the german Error message for friedman test:
Fehler in friedman.test.default(cont$score, group = cont$goup, blocks = cont$cont) :
y, Gruppen und blöcke müssen die sekbe Länge haben
The correct spelling would be:

Goups and domains trusted
Hello,
I'm using a proxy squid with authentification NT (Challenge/response) but i
have problem with domains trusted.
I have 2 domains DOMAIN1 and DOMAIN2.
When i use wbinfo i have these results :
wbinfo -t
secret is good
wbinfo -m
DOMAIN2
./wbinfo -a DOMAIN2\\proxy%proxy01
plaintext password authentication succeeded
challenge/response password authentication succeeded

The use of goup policies in XP and Vista
Hi all,
Can anyone point me in the right direction to apply Group Policies from a
Samba 3.0.26 PDC to my Windows XP and Vista clients. I read chapter 26 of
the Samba manual (dated April 3 2003) and I was wondering if the
NTConfig.POL file in the NETLOGON share is the way to go here?

After Update to 4.2, Samba is unusuable as member server / No user and goup resolution
Hello,
a reply in debianforum.de led me to:
client ldap sasl wrapping = plain
and with that setting at least wbinfo works.
But still my problems are not completely gone: On the filesystem level,
AD users and groups are still not resolved. "Invalid user". But kinit
"USER" works. Still have to try...

Same Zap channel in multiple groups
Does anyone know if it would cause problems to have the same Zap channel in
multiple goups? So, for example, if I have two PRIs would the following
work or would it cause problems:
channel => 1-23
group => 1
channel => 25-47
group => 2
channel => 1-23,25-47
group => 3
I am just curious if anyone has set some thing like this up and how it
worked out.

Removing ALL security from samba. :)
Hi,
I've got samba running on multiple machines, blah blah works great...
On my new fax server (RH7.2) I want any windows user to be able to connect
using any username/password. I got it to work with the nobody/pc guest
accounts, but that defeats the purpose (I need to see their windows/default
username).
Basically you connect to the fake samba shared printer, and the script mails
a URL

winbind help for newbie
...using
the wrong Domain.
Some info:
I am running RH7.3
Kernel 2.4.18-3
Samba 2.2.7
In my smb.conf file I have:
[global]
security = Domain
workgroup = LMC
winbind separator = +
winbind uid = 10000-20000
winbind gid = 10000-20000
winbind enum users = yes
winbind enum goups = yes
winbind cache time = 10
In my nsswitch.conf file I have:
passwd: files winbind
shadow: files winbind
group: files winbind
When I do a wbinfo -u or -g I get the info for our LMCMIG domain.
Why is it using the LMCMIG domain instead of what I have in the smb.conf
file?...

separating samba accounts from unix account?
Hi,
is there any way to setup samba accounts (which then
use a common share) but do not have a unix
account?
the scenario is, that I want to support a goup of users
who have an "samba account" on my linux box and can
use a certain part of the filesystem as file server.
But I don't want to give them a unix account to ease
user management and avoid, that they can use other
services

upgrading from 3.0.13 to 3.0.23

installed it without any problems.
When I restart servers, shares configured like this :

only user = yes
user = xdavid
works fine, but these shares (using goups names) doesn't work:
[utilisateurs]

writeable = yes
user = @utilisateurs,@root

read list = @utilisateurs,@root
groups and users are local to the samba server (running under Linux FC1)....

Re: preeexec and samba
Well, you can run smbstatus from the preexec script.
You can grep out the name of the user connecting and compare it to
the %U or %u variable sent during the login to $IPC. This could get
complicated. For example, your script would depend, maybe, on whether
you have security = share or security = user.
Here is a possibly useful tool for figuring out what you want. This smb.conf

I've bin running Samba as a AD member server for ages (Debian stable).
After the last update to 4.2, I just can't get it to work.
Symptoms: unable to map AD user / groups.
After two days of successlessly fiddling (and moving all data to another
server with still Samba 3.6, which I will definitely NOT update at the
moment), I decided to purge my Installation and start

smbd 100% systemload
hi,
i've a debian sarge setup with samba 3.0.10 with ldap as SAM backend. every
thing used to work as expected, but last week the machine went down. an
analysis of the problem has showen, that with increasing uptime there is a
growing number of smbd processes that caus 100% CPU utilation. tests have
showen, that i can kill these processes without harming smb conecctivtiy.

can someone PLEASE tell me how to mount a share with all stuff world
Ok, on local machine, everyone can do anything they want in /share and all
it's files/subdirs
On remote machine, everyone can do whatever they want on /share, but no one
can do ANYTHING in it's subdirs.

Samba and ldap groups

I have just put Samba3alpha23 on my Suse 8.1 box and and implement the new goup structure in LDAP.
All works fine expect when you log in a a user other than root on the windows box. The error is :
