auto.fs
...(but I can update - just don't want to necessarily bother). I am running LDAP and have 'included' redhat/autofs.schema in the setup but have been too chicken to try to implement because I just have a bad feeling about this... If I automount my home directory from the LDAP server, am I gonna run into a mess with different versions of things from the different systems (i.e. GNOME settings/evolution/firefox). Is it gonna be much slower because my home directory is now gonna be an NFS mount and I have a 100BaseT connection to my home directory? Any other considerations? Craig

brtfs on Solaris? (Re: [osol-discuss] [indiana-discuss] So when are we gonna fork this sucker?)
brtfs could be supported on Opensolaris, too. IMO it could even complement ZFS and spawn some concurrent development between both. ZFS is too high end and works very poorly with less than 2GB while brtfs reportedly works well with 128MB on ARM. Gonna be stupid here...
But it''s early (for me), and I can''t remember the answer here. I''m sizing an Oracle database appliance. I''d like to get one of the F20 96GB flash accellerators to play with, but I can''t imagine I''d be using the whole thing for ZIL. The DB is likely to be a couple TB in size. Couple of questions: (a) since everything is going to be

Help! Unknown error. Boss is gonna kill me. You cannot view the list of users at this time. Please try again later.
I have had a recurring error with samba for the past couple of days and for some reason I can't figure out what the problem is. I am running a Linux box running samba 2.0.7, windows nt terminal server 4, and windows 98 on three boxes. The nt box is set up as a pdc and each other box has a computer account. The samba server, when started, logins into the domain. The samba server then acts as a

toast, history, sayonara
...r and john weighed in themselves. that's good. i can say some things that they can't, though, so i will. fletcher told you how multimarkdown is booming, and it was an impressive list. what you might not realize is, he _undersold_ it. it is even bigger than he described, and it's gonna _double_ in size in the next six months. all you other variants are toast. even if you all could manage to form a consensus (yeah, right, like that's gonna happen) where you eliminated your own inconsistencies, you couldn't overcome the lead multimarkdown will soon have. but if you wanna...

Can't access samba because "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID"
I have an instance of samba 4 where users gonna authenticate on it through a OpenLDAP server. The user from LDAP are already configured with samba credentials. The issue is that they are set with an SID different from the one of my machine with samba 4, i guess it's because there was an old samba 3 in use when these users were created. When...

Can't access samba because "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID"
Thanks Rowland, I didn't think i was doing all of this in an outdated way (it really makes sense, as much of the tutorials i've followed come from before 2010 and there's barely no recent tutorials regarding these issues). So i'm gonna follow your suggestion. However, how can i deal with the LDAP server? This base is big and it's a mandatory feature i need to implement on this Samba 4, let the users log in on Samba 4 using it's credentials from OpenLDAP server. How could i accomplish this now? Thanks in advance again. E...

[PATCH] Do not calculate linear rip in emulation failure report
If we're not gonna do anything (case in which failure is already reported), we do not need to even bother with calculating the linear rip. This is a nitpick, but I saw it while doing some testing, so here's the patch. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta at redhat.com> --- arch/x86/kvm/x86.c | 4 ++--...

Asterisk Cluster
Hello Everyone, I must deploy an asterisk system that can support at least 500 pstn outbound calls. It's a challenge as it's the first time i'm gonna build such a large system. I want to have your advice on hardware, software and so on . What i have in my plan is a cluster of servers with quad PRI cards. I will appreciate your advice.
