In that case, you need neither of them. DAHDI may be useful as a timing source and as a mixing source for meetme. Alternatives for those also depend on your kernel version and version of Asterisk. -- Tzafrir Cohen icq#16849755 jabber:tzafrir.cohen at xorcom.com +972-50-7952406 mailto:tzafrir.cohen at xorcom.com http://www.xorcom.com iax:guest at local.xorcom.com/tzafrir

As for DHADI or Zaptel - You'll need a timing source such as dahdi_dummy or ztdummy if you are using MeetMe or IAX Trunks and don't have any timing hardware. Gordon
Virtual machine will not be able to access dahdi hardware anyways (don't know about KVMs though) but for conferencing you do need it, disabling all the other hardware info in its config and enabling ztdummy only. Libpri you can ignore. Config I am refering to in 1.4 versions was /etc/sysconfig/zaptel, don't know about 1.6. Up until 1.6.0 this requires DAHDI. As of 1.6.1 there is a difefrent source of timing. Though res_timing_pthread is considered not as good as DAHDI. As of 1.6.2 you have res_timing_timerfd, which is as good as DAHDI (or better) but requires kernel >= 2.6.27 IIRC. -- Tzafrir Cohen icq#16849755 jabber:tzafrir.cohen at xorcom.com<jabber%3Atzafrir.cohen at xorcom.com> +972-50-... -- Bandwidth and Colocation Provided by http://www.api-digital.com -- New to Asterisk? [asterisk-users] Do i really need Dahdi and Libpri.
Hy guys i am having so much hard time to setup asterisk on a virtual machine that i got , i just want to know if i really need to use Dahdi and libpri on a complete Digital PBX i just gonna use sip and iax. I will never use any kind of analog line on this machine. Wait for a feed back. Daniel Abreu.
Good to know. I'll try that. I needed such solution for a client few months ago. I'm currently using LXC and can easily give a container full hardware access if required. Certianly no issues with dahdi_dummy...
