SAMBA 1.9.18p8, username map, server security
...name.map:
baborl = babor
I'm unable to connect to server - password server NTEP01 rejected the
password. There is no problem with version 18p7 with the same SMB.CONF.
I can submit both (18p7 and 18p8) log files created with debug level=5 -
8k and 11k.
Best regards

Net Use \\Machine2\share2%Jane

Samba 2.0.7 - mangled names problems
...preserve case = yes
All these parameters are in [global] section.
I have never seen this problem under Samba 1.9.17p4 - similar files were
created every month.
System is Alpha Server 8200 running Tru64 UNIX 4.0D (AKA OSF/1, Digital
UNIX).
Any solution ?
Best regards

If you want automatic logon to Windows, you can use TweakUI.

problems upgrading to samba 2.0.5a
I previously had an older version of Samba installed with the following
smb.conf:
; Make sure and restart the server after making changes to this file, ex:
; /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb stop
; /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start
[global]
; Uncomment this if you want a guest account
guest account = nobody
log file = /var/log/samba-log.%m
lock directory = /var/lock/samba

oplcok_break more information (PR#12734)
Hi! After more work on the oplock_break problem, I've found the following
in my tcpdump-smb logging. It seems that when ost5 (pid=26339 in the logs
that follow) requests access to the oplocked file comm.inf from ost6
(pid=5872) the oplock_break failes (this is NOT isolated to any one or two
systems on our network, just using these two as an example, and the server
reports no dropped packets

SAMBA 2.0.7. - mangled names problems
Hello,
after upgrade Samba from 1.9.17p4 to 2.0.7. I have problems with name
mangling.
In one directory I have these files (only):
0011_BAR_ISSUEAGRES.CSV
0011_MIR_STKGEN.CSV
0011_OLO_ISSUEMPSPEC.CSV
0011_RET_ISSUEAGRES.CSV
When I look at these files (DIR /X) from Windows95 or WindowsNT
Workstation 4.0 clients I can see this:
0011_~%Y.CSV 0011_BAR_ISSUEAGRES.CSV
0011_~$%.CSV
