Windows Genuine Advantage
If this is off subject or has already been addressed, sorry. "Windows
Genuine Advantage" looks like a move to make wine worthless. What I
mean is that M$ development API pushes windows developers' applications
to require you install IE 6.0 (soon 7.0) or later, making IE a key part
of wine. If IE requires Genuine MicroSoft (Windows Genuine Advantage)
to install, then most if not all

Soundness in clang SA
Hi all,
Is it possible to develop a checker or some feature in clang SA which will
only have perfect soundness property ( if we don't care about completness
property ) i.e if the analyzer says X is a genuine bug then X is really a
genuine bug. Whatever bug it reports are all genuine but it doesn't
report all genuine bugs. Please guide.
Thanks,
Siddharth

[cfe-dev] Soundness in clang SA
Thanks for the detailed explanation. So is changing the analysis technique
from path sensitive (symbolic execution) analysis to some other technique
bring in the soundness property ?
Thanks,
Siddharth

Suggestion for wiki page edit; "OtherSpins"
Hello,
Discussion point and request for edits (either through an existing approved
editor, or via myself if I am granted access) Hopefully a constructive
suggestion to improve documentation, and elsewhere in the Wiki it advises
me to raise such things through this mailing list.

Windows Genuine Advantage checker
Is there a way to run The WindowsGenuineAdvantage.exe?
i tried it with Wine 0.9.29 and it crashed.
What I really wanted to do was run the WindowsVistaAdvisor.msi,
That proceeded and I got the .NET stuff downloaded and installed, but It
wanted IE version 5.5 or something.
I think if the fake IE stuff in Wine should have made that last step above
unecessary?
Any ideas?
Thanks.

RMTPE specification
Here is a cleanroom specification of RTMPE which has been documented
from rtmpdump v1.6 source code. updates will be at:

it is from the perspective of a client however implementing from the
perspective of a server is a trivial matter.

Ransomware?
I had to deal with ransomware at the end of April. One of the PCs on my
customer's network was infected by opening a realistic looking email
apparently from a genuine supplier to the company and personally addressed.
The infection occurred on Wednesday, but encryption of the server only took
place late on Friday afternoon, presumably having obtained encryption keys
from the criminals. The

Hello,
I am trying to run Windows Media Player 11 on WINE and I cant. This is the only software that I need to be windows free since my university posts the lecture videos in WMP 11 DRM format and I cant view them if I dont have WMP11 installed.
It asks for windows genuine verification. Anybody can help? I have wine 1.1.12.
Thanks in advance.

Discussion: Spam on R-help
[re-sending this one since it apparently didn't get through yesterday]
Hi Folks,
I just had a look at the r-help archive for the still-young month of
August, and happened to notice that out of 49 postings there, 20 were
assorted spam of all-too-familiar types.
I'm wondering (discussion point) whether this might suggest that the
list should adopt a more restrictive policy. Apparently, as

/etc/ssl/certs/dovecot.pem erased by OpenSuse's update mechanism
Hi,
this is not a genuine Dovecot bug, more a nuisance.
It applies to OpenSuse 13.2 but maybe also to other Linux's.
The standard installation of Dovecot (especially 10-ssl.conf) places the
certificate dovecot.pem in /etc/ssl/certs.
Sometimes during updates does OpenSuse renew all certificates in /etc/ssl/certs
and erases dovecot.pem. This blocks further access to the mailbox.
I found a

Why do you add dummy.domain.com:80 here as the match is done on the

Setting up Outgoing Trunk
Hello Everybody,
I have a genuine problem in Asterisk setup.
I have three inbound trunks in my asterisk box, everything is
working fine but the only problem is when any user make an out-
going call through his/her extension it goes with same number labeled
on this.
Can we set each of these lines to have fixed outgoing numbers
like if extn: 201 make an outgoing call the recipient should

Renaming a computer on a Samba domain
We shift computers around a lot, and therefore need to rename several
whenever we get new batches of systems in.
Tried simply renaming a system while on the domain, but got an "access
denied" error. I WAS able to disjoin the domain, remove the LDAP entry
for the computer, log in as a local administrator, rename the computer,
and rejoin the domain a different computer name.
However,

Phishing attempt posing as digium
Did anyone else just get what looks like a phising attempt pretending to
be from digium?
It appears to be full of links to http://app.en25.com/e/er.aspx
I must admit, it looks genuine.

Anyone able to install Windows Media Player plugin?
When I run wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe downloaded from
wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe
I get the screen saying:
"You may be a victim of software counterfeiting"
"This copy of Windows is not genuine."
At the same time standard output gets the following messages:

Re: gekkeiju online running, now just need shaders
i've just known that wine does not constitute "genuine Windows" When WGA validation detects Wine running on the system, it will notify users that they are running non-genuine Windows and disallow genuine Windows downloads for that system. [Idea]

R check mis-identifying Illumina data file format as executable and other thoughts.
This is somewhat a summary/continuation of an R bug report:
Illumina's cluster definition files (*.egt) are one of the proprietary and
undocumented file formats used by their GenomeStudio line of products for
genomic studies.
