link_stat
...get rid of that? I tried "::" instead of single colon. I don't use rsyncd.conf file, because I think it runs as non daemon process. This is a single command for back-up: rsync -auzv -e ssh --delete --exclude=".*" --exclude="~*" /work/data my.remote.domain:/ftproot/friday >> friday.log Any comment would be appreciated. A. sftp-server (secure) chroot patch?
...lace to config chroot. Since I don't have much C-knowledge, there might be errors in this patch (it works for me though). Please reply with the correct code. Thanks to Ben Lindstrom for helping me with this... I use this patch together with rssh, and I put the sftp-binary in the rssh chroot /ftproot/usr/local/libexec and its called by rssh-chroot-helper. When a user logins with sftp he will get chrooted to /ftproot/home/user. I shutdown access to scp and ssh, only sftp is allowed, so the user will never see the files in /ftproot To apply this patch on OpenSSH 3.6.1p2: - patch -p0 < sftp-se...

Windows ACL adjustments, permission denied
...I found my problem and i am a little ashamed it took me this long to figure it out but here goes. The error i was getting when trying to adjust the ACL was "Changes could not be saved, access is denied" using Winbind, i had done the following: #chgrp "MRPARTYK/Domain Users" /ftproot which left the owner as "root". I have an entry in the /etc/samba/smb.conf file the equivalates root to administrator, so i thought that having the owner as root was acceptable, but i am guessing that the smbusers file only maps in one direction, from Unix ->Windows and not Windows -&...

NFS/RDMA connection closed
Hi, we are having a problem with NFS using RDMA protocol over our FDR10 Infiniband network. I previously wrote to NFS mailing list about this, so you may find our discussion there. I have taken some load off the server which was using NFS for backups, and converted it to use SSH, but we are still having critical problems with NFS clients losing connection to the server, causing the clients

Samba DC issue.
Hello, I'm trying to use samba (Version 2.2.3a-6 for Debian) as a DC for a windows 2000 pro network. Everything seems to work OK, except the roaming profiles. Every few days (I haven't locked down a pattern yet) all machines connected to the server loose their connection, and no one can connect again until the server is rebooted. I'm using log level 3, and this is what log.smbd

Windows ACL modify ability?
I have posted several questions now and have ben unsuccessful in getting any responses, so i thought i would take a different tack. I know adjusting permissions on Samba shares, through the Microsoft MMC is possible when you have POSIX ACL support compiled in your kernel. I don't think that level of control is necessary for me and short of recompiling the kernel for that support i have been
