2) Does the 7xxx failove r work as expected (in test and real life)
3) Does the SSD really help?
4) Do the analytics help prevent and solve real problems, or arui?he ge they frivolous pretty pictures?

For an introduction to Subversion, this online book is essential:

It is written by some of the Subversion authors. The only drawback I
can think of is their frivolous use of footnotes. Feel free to ignore

CNAM lookup: new method for Caller ID Name delivery

angers me, actually - does anyone actually have a clue how many
lawyers need to get involved in an NDA, and what is it exactly that
the NDA is trying to do? NDAs are used in the USA for the most
frivolous and inane reasons. As if your competition didn't know what
you were doing? Please, let's be realistic here.

I intend to install CentOS i386 on an old Dell Inspiron laptop, but I

Preservation of short and long filenames in Windows 9x with Samba
...TXT. You can try this on a Windows
machine to see how this works as indicated here.
In my experience the combination will be copied EXACTLY as long as
complete directories are copied.
The question is how does SAMBA insure that the both long and short
filenames are preserved exactly? This is not a frivolous question as I
do not know whether/how SAMBA copies/stores both long and short
filenames. Likewise any backup of a Windows directory on a Windows
machine, if the files are not copied/restored in EXACTLY the same
order they were created will be corrupt. (Trust me I have done this
hundreds of times...

Application performance
Hey all
Im working on improving the speed of my application. Ive taken on board
everything that has been said on this forum so far, im using httperf to
benchmark and try to improve performance. However, I have some question
marks over how best to go about improving performance in certain areas....
With no caching or such like deployed the application runs at an rather slow

BTRFS partition won't mount
Hello all,
I recently had a power failure and can no longer mount my /home directory. The harddrive has two BTRFS partitions: sda7(/) and sda8(/home). The / partition loads up just fine, but /home does not. I''ve tried btrfsck as shown below and I''ve included dmesg pertaining to btrfs. This is on ArchLinux and the software versions are as follows:

VPN hardware?
I have a NetGear FV318 living in my DMZ, with one of its LAN-ports
living in my LOC zone. What rules are needed in shorewall to allow a
certain subnet to make connections to this device from the net zone?
Do I define it as a tunnel in shorewall/tunnels, or do I just allow some
selected traffic to the DMZ IP? I am not sure which of the docs are
right for me in this case?

Inclusive language in LLVM: can we rename `master` branch?
...f renaming the branch to 'main' or 'trunk' makes it easier
for people to reason about the branch setup then fine. But if it's "to
address a past wrong that has absolutely no relation to the project"
it needs to be rethought. And I'll go so far as to say that this
frivolous renaming occurring across the board is doing more harm than
good in the name of 'respecting the last few centuries', as it forces
people to highlight that aspect of history, and not move on as a
society.
A master branch is the source of truth. It's where development
branches branch...

[LLVMdev] Adding a new ARM RegisterClass
I'm looking at an issue where we want a particular pseudo-instruction to
choose from a set of registers that is not included in the existing set of
RegisterClass definitions. More concretely, there is a RegisterClass in
ARMRegisterInfo.td defined as
def rGPR : RegisterClass<"ARM", [i32], 32, (sub GPR, SP, PC)> {
let AltOrders = [(add LR, rGPR), (trunc rGPR, 8)];

YAPQ (Yet Another Patent Question)
...ual coding.
Well, it seems Vorbis is already a far better codec than mpeg layer3, at
least to my ears.
Of course, FhG will never let such a thing exist for long. It threatens
their revenue sources. I expect FhG will eventually send cease-and-desist
letters, and if that doesnt work, they will file frivolous lawsuits.
I think it's time for serious research for prior art to defend against
possible FhG harassment and attacks. Does anyone have a list of FhG
patents?

Sprint Nextel sueing over VoIP patents
Sprint Nextel is sueing vonage, voiceglo and theglobe.com for infringing
on VoIP patents. Sprint Nextel claims to have about 100 patents on VoIP
technologies. Does anyone know which ones this article is talking
about, and if so does asterisk have any of those features?
The reason I am asking is that the article is vague, Vonage uses a
fairly standard codec set, I dont know about the others.

rgl/compiz problem
I have just encountered the problem with rgl where plot3d figures
don't interact with the mouse. My plots zoom in and out with the mouse
wheel but the mouse buttons do nothing. I can't rotate the plot.
This has been mentioned and discussed here and in other lists before,
and the solution is to turn off Ubuntu's fancy graphics. Back in

Problem on FC3
I''m getting a VFS kernel panic when trying to booting to FC3 from Xen.
Its the one that says I must supply a valid "root=" option. (sorry I
don''t have it verbatim.)
I''m using the xen-2.0 binary installer, kernel 2.6.9. I am using
ext3fs, but I am fairly certain that I have compiled support into the
kernel. (I''ve tired compile xen from the 2.0
