Mechanize#get vs Mechanize#fetch_page
So I found myself wanting to call Mechanize#get with a hash for arguments like this: WWW::Mechanize.new(''http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/'', {:method => ''flickr.auth.getFrob''... }) Granted, it looks like this isn''t supported but it led me to what looks like a bug. Namely that get calls fetch_page(abs_uri, request, cur_page, &block)

Strange encoding issue
...in the future. I've been happily using rc3 since shortly after its release and slowly converting the music collection on my PC from mp3 to ogg. I've now run into a problem that has me stumped. On the 2nd track of The Breeders _Last Splash_ album, the intro bass riff comes up with some frickin' /nasty/ artifacts that vorbis has never given me before; like it's been dropping samples. The test cases I've run so far are -q 4, -q 5, -q 9, and -b 128. The CD itself plays fine, as does the .wav from which I'm encoding. LAME doesn't seem to mind, either. I'm (stil...

Centos5 install failure
...ted to get to the point were I could repair the missing modules. So the system comes up -- sort of. The modules that still couldn't load turned out to include those for my network card, so no network access. Nor could I mount any cds or the xfs file system on the raid array. Useless. Just frickin' useless. My low opinion of grub remains unchanged, and my opinion of Centos is following in the same direction. I spent the rest of the afternoon restoring Fedora off my backup tapes. Any clues what I did wrong? -- John (john at os2.dhs.org)

R-devel Digest, Vol 121, Issue 20
...bout shortened arguments as positive feedback. But 90% of my usage of R is day to day data analysis, interactive, at the keyboard. A lot of data sets that come to me have long variable names. What this change will mean to me is that I'll either spend a lot of time cursing at these annoying frickin warnings, or have to take the time to make new data sets (several times a week) that have abbreviated names. Of course when I come back to that project 8 weeks later I'll need to recreate the short-long mapping in my head... Let's think about WHY abbreviated names were allowed in the f...

...gest that continuing this thread is counter-productive. Then reply to them. Is it that hard? Second, if you READ the posts, you would find that the man page, is unclear. It was referred to, but you missed that as well. It?s really hard to post things when people like you two don?t read the frickin posts. No matter how many times you post, most people just want to fluff their feathers instead of read the posts. I would suggest?reading the posts. Then, read the posts. Or get some fresh air. None of this is difficult. Cheers, Bee

Photoshop Elements 7
Ok to start I'm a noob. Not a complete noob, but you may as well assume I wont know how to do something more complex than opening a terminal. I just switched my own computer to ubuntu and I wanted to bring along my copy of pse7 if possible. I followed the guide listed here http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/idiots-guide-installing-photoshop-cs5-ubuntu-1004/ and after a few fumbles and near miss

Seeking Ruby on Rails Co-worker in Boston. jobs!
...ested developers in the Boston area to work full time at my company. If you look at the job description, you''ll see no mention of Ruby on Rails: http://www.bitgroup.com/about/item/85 http://www.bitgroup.com/about/item/84 However I assure you, if you work here, we''re gonna have a frickin'' RoR Revolution! So uhh, send me your resume so I get the referral $bling$ Or, if you''re into the whole "discussion forum" type thing, I''d be interested to hear your thoughts on subverting/converting a Java/J2EE shop into a Ruby on Rails shop. DRYing - similar named fields, etc.
I''m sorry - just couldn''t come up with a subject that describes the problem :( Anyway, this is my problem. I have a long list of fields that need to be displayed when a ''show'' is requested on the controller. I''m now doing the list.rhtml and looking for a DRY way to do the following. For each data item, I have 2 fields - one is the item name, the

I'm FED UP with BroadVoice
After months of BroadVoice ignoring my trouble tickets for dropped calls, delayed termination, etc., I'm throwing in the towel. While they have credited $19.95 to my account, they refuse to credit anything more, despite ALL of the problems I've had. I feel the least they could do is credit the remaining $8.61 to my account, yet they won't. I haven't really been following up on
