After months of BroadVoice ignoring my trouble tickets for dropped calls, delayed termination, etc., I'm throwing in the towel. While they have credited $19.95 to my account, they refuse to credit anything more, despite ALL of the problems I've had. I feel the least they could do is credit the remaining $8.61 to my account, yet they won't. I haven't really been following up on porting between VoIP providers, but is there a remote chance I can save my phone number? I'd sure hate to change numbers again -- this has been a NIGHTMARE. Everyday, calls are dropping, and I'm calling people back 2 to 3 times to establish a decent connection. And their response (paraphrasing): "We've made the best effort to ensure your service is functional ... but there are some things beyond our control with VoIP." Not good enough! I had great service with Vonage, and the times I use VoipJet, it works perfectly! Thanks in advance for any pointers. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I would venture to say that all ITSP suck... some just suck less... It generally speaking boils down to that fact that internet connectivity is never full reliable (from a consumer standpoint). Sure if you want to cough up the money for a T1, you probably get better phone service for $19.95/month... but that really doesn't make a whole lot of sence. Even connections from home back to an office that doesn't have much load but is out on the internet is somewhat flakey because there is no QOS. I have had very reliable inbound/outbound service from Junction Networks (www.junctionnetworks.com). The one time I did have an issue, it was resolved quickly. During my testing I concluded that BroadVoice (my partner refers to them as NoVoice) was unreliable (approximately 40% of all of our test calls went uncompleted) and not ready for prime time (almost impossible to get in contact with technical support). For our inbound only service we have been using Voxbone (www.voxbone.com). Very reliable and very responsive technical support. We had one problem plaguing us that turned out to be a configuration issue that was my fault. However, they were very responsive in testing their end to help troubleshoot the problem. Dave
Thanks for the insight.. I have been considering broadvoice because it seems to be a "big" name, but yours is not the first negative feedback.. Perhaps I'll stay w/ Vonage for the time being - I hate having it go analog and back to digitial in the space of 5 feet of cable, but at least it works well! (Flawlessly as a matter of fact, in the 14 months I've had it!!) <Shameless beg> If you want to switch back to Vonage, let me know, so I can recommend you and get a free month!! ;-) </> ________________________________ From: Ronald Lewis [mailto:ronaldl79@gmail.com] Sent: Thu 3/23/2006 2:05 PM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: [Asterisk-Users] I'm FED UP with BroadVoice After months of BroadVoice ignoring my trouble tickets for dropped calls, delayed termination, etc., I'm throwing in the towel. No matter how good a ITSP is, or how excellent there support is, if the internet between you and them has issues then you are SOL. I have had positive experience with both Teliax and with Nufone.net, both of which I selected based on positive feedback here on the list. They have both worked reliably for me, although frickin' comcast sometimes has very poor latency, which they admit, but fail to do anything about. I am looking at also using a third company as I see that sellvoip.net is very inexpensive, can provide me with a local number (seattle, wa) AND is very close to me geographically. The 11 MS ping from my comcast connection is a powerful motivator. Marty
Join the club. I just put a block on my cc. They terminated me pretty fast :) --- Ronald Lewis <ronaldl79@gmail.com> wrote:> After months of BroadVoice ignoring my trouble > tickets for dropped calls, > delayed termination, etc., I'm throwing in the > towel.
