Microsoft Expression/.NET framwork
Hello,
I really want Microsoft Expression Studio 2 to work with Wine. It requires the .NET framework. Should I expect Wine to be compatible with the it anytime soon? I also wonder if Windows Media Encoder will ever be compatible and Microsoft Visual Studio.

proper use of alternatives framework
.../etc/alternatives. In an
effort to not get lost in that thread (and mostly because it's a
seperate topic and may help others when searching the list) I decided
to posit my question directly. Rather than hack like a caveman at my
installs of java and other things that fit into the alternatives
framwork, I've been reading the man pages and googling, but
sometimes I need things spelled out using crayons and small words. If
someone has some documentation or insight about using the alternatives
framework, including the --slaves options, I would be immensely
appreciative.

Gluster 3.1.2 and rpc-auth patch
.../nfs-server.vol
did not worked as each modification (ie gluster start volume MyVolume) would overwrite changes
After browsing the web/mailing list and trying to find a workaround to implement nfs auth we decided to patch the source code to add an extra option to the gluster "volume set" framwork. Which was a rather easy task considering the quality of the source code.
A few lines in glusterd-volgen.c did the trick
It worked for us, so here is the patch which allow users to issue:
gluster volume set MyVolume rpc-auth.allow "10.*,192.*"
default is still "*"
Cheers

puppet in java
We have bunch or property files(key/value pairs) used in different modules
in our java web applicaiton. our applicaiton is also distributed, part of
that runs on a head office and some of the parts run at the branch. All the
branches run a local server for day to day activities. We are looking to
automate these files when moving to different environments like deve, test,
prod. So that we can

[Off topic?] Time dependent Cox model fitting and validation
...egies' advices for the choice of my model.
This study aims to the development of a prognostic model, so it'is
primary predictive.
I have to do stepwise model selection and provide a measure of
predictive accuracy. I'm using rms's cph and validate function with
bw=TRUE option.
</framwork>
<questions>
1. Is validate good at resampling from a counting process format
database? Or should i use a somewhat modified version?
2. Why fastbw(fit,"aic") and step(fit) don't select the
same model? step() appears to stop first. I can't manage to get the
stopping rule...

Eric Meyer about frameworks (Rails, too)
Hi,
for those of you who haven''t read:

""Oh", they gush, "you should absolutely try Ruby on Rails! It''s so
easy! It''s almost like writing regular English!" Which means they''re
clearly on crack, because Ruby on Rails is so very different from a

dovecot and vmailmgr
hello
now that dovecot supports authentication with checkpassword-compatible
modules, I tried to get it working for IMAP on a qmail + vmailmgr
server.
For a subtle detail, while claiming to be "a drop-in replacement for
the standard
checkpassword", checkvpw (auth module for vmailmgr) is not "drop in".
It actually
expects 2 args on its command line, not 1. So, a wrapper

Yes, sorry, I pulled the wrong quote, it was late.

[LLVMdev] Contribute a new precise pointer analysis to LLVM
Hi Daniel,
I want to clarify that our analysis is not based on CFL-reachability.
We apply CFL-reachability to matching context information where the
exist from a function to a call-site must match
the entry from the corresponding call-site. The problem is a simple
balanced parentheses problem in CFL-reachability, and it can be
computed
efficiently.
The paper you mentioned is a very nice paper

PHPonRails ?
I''ve have a very tight schedule project that MUST (not my option), be
developed in PHP. Is there a Rails based framework for this platform?
I like the Rails way of things, but in this case, I cannot choose the
programming language, so please don''t offend me :-)
Thanks in advance,
Alessandro

How do I pass form values from POST controller specs?
Hi there
I just started my first Merb app and I''m running into some weird
things in Specs. When I do:
describe "create action" do
it "should create a new project" do
project_params = {:name => ''bekkunin''}
Project.should_receive(:create).with(project_params)
controller, action = post(''/projects'', :project

[PATCH v2 0/2] virtio-crypto: add Linux driver
..., the file
includs the functions of add/del/search/start/stop for virtio
crypto devices.
4) virtio_crypto_common.h is a private header file for virtio
crypto driver, includes structure definations, and function declarations.
5) virtio_crypto_algs.c is the realization of algs based on Linux Crypto Framwork,
which can register different crypto algorithms. Currently it's only support AES-CBC.
The Crypto guys can mainly focus to this file.
Actually I have no idea the virtio-crypto driver should be gone in whose
tree, Michael's or Herbert's?
Would you give me a feedback? Thanks a lot!
