Upgrade 0.9.8 to 0.9.12 issues
Hi all Anything special I need to do upgrading from 0.9.8 to 0.9.12? I run a few important Win apps and a recent change lost such things as virtual windows (black boxes) and all the text was super small greeked or non existent. Going back to 0.9.8 showed no permanent damage. Winecfg was impossible to read/use. Do I need to run wineprefixcreate? Didnt see anything in the winehq FAQ about

Empty text-boxes in various programs. Tried recompiling with FontForge..
Does anybody know of a fix for missing font/text problems with Wine? I've read of many people having the problem, but no cure other than the suggestion of packaging problems and that one should compile from source with FontForge support. I have compiled from source with FontForge support but the problem is still here. I am using Fedora Core 5 on x86. You can see the problem here:

Latest CVS: no fonts?
Is this bug 5057? ... I've just installed the latest version of wine from CVS and created a new .wine directory. Upon running winecfg, there are no letters on any of the buttons or tabs. After reading the text of bug 5057, I checked .wine/drive_c/windows/fonts and there are no files. I copied and pasted all of the font files from the equivalent location in one of my backups to this

No text displayed
Even though the applications seem to run smoothly on the backend, there is no text displayed whatsoever. No text on buttons, no text in drop downs, no text anywhere, period. This problem exists across all programs being run and even affects winecfg. Both the latest corefonts and fontforge packages are installed. I am assuming that this is some sort of configuration misunderstanding, possibly

squares instead of font characters since wine-0.9.13
do you know why when running wine-0.9.13 and all later versions of wine, finale displays squares instead of font characters and when running wine 0.9.12 everything displays ok? I have checked with wine versions that I have compiled from source on mandrake 10.0. The wine directory was left without any changes. thanks Piotr -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

Darwine build without freetype
I'm having a bit of trouble implementing the "--without-freetype" option in creating my own Darwine build (notably, so I can bypass the OpenGL problem). How do I implement the option?

How to Install WINE on Slackware 12
Hello, I read the README and the man pages and the User Guide. They only say to run ./tools/wineinstall but it can't be found anywhere on my system! I downloaded the package and used tar to extract it to my home directory (/root). I do not find "./tools" anywhere. Nothing in the documentation mentions the directory from which to install at all.

font problems
Hello there, I installed wine from this source: wine-0.9.12-SuSELinux92.i586.rpm After that I run winecfg, It created a .wine directory at my home directory (it didn?t create any config file), so far so good. The problem is the config tool(winecfg) doesn?t have any font neither the notepad, regedit, etc. I imported some ttf fonts (Arial, Courier New, Times New Roman) to my

No fonts/characters in latest wine
With the latest Wine (0.9.12), I get no characters appearing in any graphical program under Wine. I tried installing the latest fontforge (20060413), and doing a "make clean && make depend && make", to no change. I tried deleting all installed Wine files and installing the Wine RPM from Sourceforge, with the same results. This is under SuSE 9.3.

Hint for Wine + Type1 + FrameMaker / Update for the Font HOWTO
Hi Avi, Having spend endless hours looking for how to make Wine and Type1 fonts working together. I finally decided to convert my Type1 fonts to Truetype (after a hint by someone that Wine does not have Type1/Adobe support). Note: I'm not sure if this is true since there is a wine [afmdirs] section in the wine config. Wine still had troubles with (at least) some of the files. Converting

0.9.14 source + invisible fonts prob
Hi all I build today 0.9.14 from source on a Linuxfromscratch system (gcc-4.0.3, glibc-2.3.6, binutils-2.16.1, Xorg7.1, freetype-2.1.10). My first attempt aborted on the configuration step, indicating that it couldn't find freetype even though the only part that seemed to be missing was: checking for freetype/ftnames.h... no everything else on freetype being yes. Anyway, the advice at

Segfault when compiling Wine 1.0 from source
Greetings again. I have been trying to compile Wine 1.0 with no luck. I was using wineinstall utility included with the source. The wineinstall is segfaulting, and the culprit might be an utility in the /tools directory. The error message in question: make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/user/wine-1.0.0~winehq0~debian~4.0/include' make[1]: Entering directory
