[Wine] Empty text-boxes in various programs. Tried recompiling with FontForge..
Does anybody know of a fix for missing font/text problems with Wine? I've read of many people having the problem, but no cure other than the suggestion of packaging problems and that one should compile from source with FontForge support. I have compiled from source with FontForge support but the problem is still here. I am using Fedora Core 5 on x86. You can see the problem here: http://www.uk2sucks.net/epc.png and http://www.uk2sucks.net/nsm.png Please can anybody help? thanks, Carl

I have also tried deleting all wine fonts. Still no luck.

I should have installed it properly through Wine rather than trying to run it from the installed directory on the NTFS volume. It's so obvious really that I feel stupid, but this is an old Win98 app and I didn't consider it, completely forgetting that the paths were then wrong what with the virtual C: drive etc. So, there seems *not* to be a font problem per-se. NetSupport Manager OTOH does not display any of the controls in the right-hand pane of the configuration window, as you can see in the other image url in the original post. There should be textboxes, checkboxes, and radio buttons there. I have for now just moved over a working configuration file from my Windows XP laptop.

I am able to reproduce the problem every time by trying to view a screen which has ACT! 2006 open. As soon as ACT! starts and draws it's contact screen, the viewer program (PCICTLUI.EXE) dies. I looked at memory usage, and actual memory usage seems normal - 36 or so megabytes most of the time, sometimes increasing to 120mb upon connecting to a client for the first time. What has surprised me though, is the Virtual Memory usage. 1.5gb - as soon as I start the program. This increases to 1.6gb just before the crash. See here: http://www.uk2sucks.net/wow.png I am generally able to view and work on most screens, but I have encountered this a few times. On one machine it was when I opened the Printers folder on a remote Windows XP machine. And today, everytime I try to view this machine with ACT! open. thanks, Carl

So the 1.5GB virtual memory usage is obviously of no interest or concern. Hmmm..

Neither the symptoms (memory usage, error messages) nor the result (no crash vs. crash) are the same. Daniel
