Samba 2.2.7a 64bit executable on Solaris 8
...s working and the compilations (and have been checked )
are taking place I am not unduly worried. However there is always the
possiblity of a problem so would like to identify why Samba 2.2.7a is
complaining in the log.smbd file.

Yager on ZFS
Not sure if it''s been posted yet, my email is currently down...
http://weblog.infoworld.com/yager/archives/2007/10/suns_zfs_is_clo.html
Interesting piece. This is the second post from Yager that shows
solaris in a pretty good light. I particularly like his closing
comment:
"If you haven''t checked out ZFS yet, do, because it will eventually
become ubiquitously implemented

Help with Qemu 0.8.2
Thanks, I have downloaded the thoughtwave build of Qemu 0.9.0 which does not appear to support kqemu as the Qemu project v0.8.2_cvs20070120_REV_2007.01.24 version does. I did find that running Win98se with kqemu accelerator enabled consistantly caused Solaris 10 8/07 to freeze completely; however Win2K worked perfectly.
I built and installed the tuntap devices for Solaris from the sources here

I've tried following configurations, and none of them work.
rsync -av --owner=test -g MyFolder 192.168.100.1::backup/test
rsync -av --owner=500 -g MyFolder --numeric-ids 192.168.100.1::backup/test
(500 is numeric id for user
