sender for Sieve vacation message
Hello,
is it possible to define the sender for the Dovecot Sieve
implementation's vacation extension? It seems to be impossible to add,
e.g., a name, or choose a different sender address.
Thanks,

encrypting connection to Samba
Hello,
I've searched the Howtos, but I did not find anything, so I'm asking
this question onlist.
When are connections between Samba and the client encrypted? I run Samba
3.0.20a on a network with Windows XP SP2 and some Windows 98 machines.
- Are connections always encrypted? Are there any smb.conf settings I
have to make in order to get encryption working (server signing?)?

I am playing around with Asterisk the first time and it really looks
great. ;-)
However, I have one problem: Any SIP device can connect to my PBX. How
can I requre logon for SIP users and deny access in the case of wrong or

purge maildir folder after sa-learn
Hello,
I am looking for a command-line utility to automatically purge one
Maildir folder. I want to periodically run sa-learn from cron, and
after the spam learning folder has been added to the Bayes database,
its contents should be deleted. I've searched a bit, but only found a
few old utilities or some telnet+expect scripts, which both didn't
look too reliable.
Is there any

checking all folders for new mail (IMAP STATUS command)
Hello,
I use Thunderbird as IMAP client and do a lot of server-side filtering
with Sieve scripts. To be notified of new mails, I want to check all
folders (a lot of them...) at once for new mails, and not only the
inbox.
According to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Checking_for_new_messages_in_other_folders_-_Thunderbird
it should be sufficient to enable one setting -- given that the IMAP
server

Where are Windows file permissions stored and how to change them?
Hello there,
where are the Windows file permissions (i.e. ACL) stored when using Samba?
How can I change them from within Linux? Or is it only possible with the
Windows file permissions dialogue?
Thanks

PDC for XP: empty desktop and desktop.ini showing up
Hello there,
I'm trying to set up Samba as a PDC for Windows XP Professional (SP2).
It seems to work fine. Machine accounts are created automatically,
passwords between Unix and Samba users get synced, I can logon, profile
directories are created - but there's a problem.
I know that this is well-known, but it drives me crazy and I don't know
any solution.
First of all, the

distribute/deploy software to clients
Hello,
I run a Windows domain based on Samba 3 and I am searching for a way to
distribute/deploy software to clients.
I.e., a user logging on to a client, software should be automatically
installed or upgraded. Is there any common solution? I heard of MSI
packages, but I don't know if it is necessary to create MSI packages of
all installations...
Thanks

quota warning for fs quota
Hello,
I configured my Dovecot to use filesystem (fs) quota. It works fine,
the correct free/used space and percentage is being shown to the
client. However, the warning feature doesn't seem to work, no mail is
being sent, although executing the script standalone works fine.
Is quota warning for fs quota supported? I use Dovecot 1.0.10 (Ubuntu package).
Thanks,

same user but different passwords
Hello,
I want to run Samba for my Win9x/Me clients. These clients all have a
static logon name, which is the machine name, e.g. lab01, lab02, and
so on.
Now I want to have the following: I want to protect different Samba
shares with different passwords, accessible from any computer, just
like the normal Windows share does.
Example: I share \\samba\sounds and \\samba\images

disabling version number
Hi there,
is there any possibility of disabling Samba's version number output (e.g.
with smbclient) without having to manually edit it in the source code?
I don't want anyone to see my Samba's version number...

setting options before user logs on via policies
Hello,
is it possible to set options before a user logs on via policies, or
does this depend on active directory?
I would like to set things like screensaver at logon dialogue,
ctrl-alt-del requirement, clear last user at logon, etc., but it seems
to be impossible using policies.
A workaround I can think of is doing that via MSI files.
Any tip is welcome. :-)

documentation on group profiles
Hello list,
does anyone have a good documentation regarding group profiles? The
Samba HOWTO collection only says that its possible, but I don't
understand how it works, how I can set a specific profile for a group of
users...

same profile for all users
Hello list,
is it possible to have the same profile for some users (or a group of
users) without having to use a separate profile directory for each user?
I would like to set up a pre-defined mandatory profile for a school with
more than 1,000 students. Each student should have the same,
unchangeable profile. Is it possible to run it out of one profile
directory? If yes, how?
Thanks

installation without logging on as administrator
Hello there,
I'm quite new to software distribution, so I would like to ask you a
question. ;-) Is it posible to install software without logging on as
administrator on every machine? If yes, how does it work? Via a Windows
service? Via a script that is being run as admin even if a normal user
logs on?
Thanks!

Copying user profiles via command line?
Hello,
In order to maintain some sort of "group profile" (i.e. one mandatory
profile shared between a group of users that have the same profile
path), I would like to copy profiles between users. This works fine with
System/Advanced/User Profiles/Copy To. However, I would like to automate
this using a command line tool for Windows or Linux (I use the Samba3
server).
Does anyone
