Dear list,
i'm a new R user, so I apologize if the topic is already being addressed
by some other user.
I'm trying to determine if the reproductive success of a species of bird
is related to a list of covariates.
These are the covariates:
? elev: elevation of nest (meters)
? seadist: distance from the sea (meters)
? meanterranova: records of temperature

dredge solely offset models in MuMIn
hello everyone,
I'm modelling in lmer an average chick weight defined as
"Total.brood.mass ~ offset(chick.number), with three fixed and two
random effect. Next, I want to use function dredge from MuMIn package
for model averaging. Not sure why, but in consequence the offset
variable is treated as a predictor, so I get a table that mixes models
with and without that offset term (the first

full-fledge PDF editor for Linux
Hi all,
Does anybody know of an editor that can do on Linux what Acrobat /
Acrobat Pro can do on Mac/Windows? I have tried to use the PDF Import
extension to the Open Office which appears barely functional - at
least it is so slow as to be almost impractical. I have also tried
pdfedit under Linux which seems to work fine but seems to have rather
limited functionality. For instance, the capability

lustre on debian
...e they
more or less relevant to lustre 2.4/2.5 or am I going headlong into a
tall brick wall.
Also are newer clients backwards compatible with older server
software? I am currently just setting up a demo environment and don''t
know what version of lustre the vendor will install on the full
fledged version yet (though I hope they''ll go with 2.4/2.5).
Thanks,

New BackgrounDRb release
Friends-
There is a new release of BackgrounDRb. This time it is a full
fledged rails plugin with generators and rake tasks thanks to Saimon
Moore. Thanks Saimon!
You can read all about it here on my blog:
http://brainspl.at/articles/2006/05/25/backgroundrb-new-release
The newest feature besides the much cleaner way to install and
control the drb server is caching....

ISDN PRI debug in Asterisk
Hi all,
Does Asterisk contain a full fledged ISDN packet sniffer. By giving the command
" pri intense debug span 1 " , does it debug every packet received
(control and voice/data packets) ?
Thanks

Cannot Read Access Control List - Error 1400
...al times during the install produces an error like this:
Cannot read access control list.
Error code: 1400
This error is not fatal to the install process, so I am not really looking for anyone to solve the issue, but I am wondering if this is a Wine limitation or if it should be considered a full fledged bug?
On a native Windows install, apparently what is happening is the installer is attempting to change permissions of certain folders/files, and XP / Vista (Win2K too?) have additional security over these changes, hence the attempt to read the "access control list". Yes, no?

Yes, Debian and its clones have full fledged root account, only with empty
password hash (thus making it account for which no password will match).
You can enable it by grabbing root shell using sudo, then using command
passwd to set password. voila.
And they are more or less neutral, they do not insist that having disabled
root account adds...

Keeping idmap in sync cross DC
Hi Guys,
I have run into a very interesting problem using GPO's on our DC's.
As you may (or may not) know, we have migrated to a pure Samba4 (Git stable
branch checkout) AD network. I can't be happier. *Kudos to the Samba team*
We are running to DC's, DC1 and DC2, both full fledged DC's, both running
CentOS 6.9, fully up to date.
For the sysvol partition I decided to run a glusterfs between the DC's. I
started out with a unison sync, but being the impatient person I am, I
needed more real time.
Now my problem is with the permissions in the sysvol folder structure....

Ubiquiti Model UAP-AC-PRO
...s a device that one purchases and runs the same management software, on your network, rather than installing the software onto a Linux server...it's literally the difference between an ethernet connected (and powered, if you have a PoE switch) device running the software or running it on a full fledged computer.

You mean it?s an access point controller Ubiquity makes? Why don?t
they call it just that ...

Changes to get CD to boot on EFI System.
...at boots out of a CD ?
(Those built according to
http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Install#UEFI
are known not to be able to do this.)
Do you know examples (ready ISOs or production software for ISOs)
which use SYSLINUX for EFI together with ISOLINUX and do not
have to contain a full-fledged operating system in the ESP ?
Have a nice day :)

Dreamhost subscription?
I''m thinking about signing up with DreamHost for the base Level 1 $9.95

I''d like to know others thoughts, and who they recommend for RoR

Thanks!

Notes on 1.1.4 Windows. Testing of SSE Intrinics Code and others
Jean-Marc,
Are you sure that you don't need to add just -msse to enable the
intrinsics rather than a full fledged -march=pentium3? I did some playing
around and I can get intrinsics code to compile with -march=i686 -msse on
linux with that.
Check out:

Sernet Packages - description
Would someone be so kind as to explain the differences between the sernet packages? Either that or point me to an internet resource that would explain it?
What I'm trying to figure out is what packages to use to set up a full fledged member server in an existing samba4 domain with an existing DC. I want to be able to create a share on this server and then be able to manage it's permissions from a windows box using computer management.
Also I'm hoping that the performance on this server will be faster than that of t...

Apply command on vectors
...trix.mask] ,1, mean) # Fails
Error in apply(a.matrix[, matrix.mask], 1, mean) :
dim(X) must have a positive length
-----------------------------
So what I usually do is explicitly cast the thing as a matrix using,
as.matrix(), but it's unnecessary in most cases (when the thing is a
full-fledged matrix)-- extra computation, moving memory around, etc.
Is there an elegant R fix? I guess I just want the subset of the matrix to
retain its matrixiness.
Thanks,
Elliot.

Instant Management Frontend with the Scaffolding Extensions Plugin
I''ve updated the Scaffolding Extensions Plugin[1] recently to add a
couple new features:
1) Scaffold all models and associations with one command
2) Show all associated objects on the edit page
Example of usage:
In an existing Rails application, create a controller (i.e.
"script/generate controller crud"), and modify so it looks like:

RTP Payload Format for the Speex Codec
Congrats JM. You certainly deserved to get the payload format approved.
If I'm not being too much of a pest, I was wondering how close Speex 1.2
is to being a full-fledged release. I know that your focus these days is
on CELT (and I'm glad for that) but I was wondering if you had any plans
for any real changes or fixes to Speex in the near term. For my project
I make a lot of changes to the code (mostly so that SSE support is
selected at run-time) so I don...
