Something wrong with content_columns
I have a database with a couple of tables. One table called spares has foreign keys in another called equipment. When I create a new record, it is added to the spares table however the list action does not show all the columns in the table. It only shows those columns that are not foreign keys. I am using the default action generated by scaffold for list. Why is that so? Do i need to re-write my

Upload AVI convert to quicktime/flash
Is there a way to upload an AVI and convert it into quicktime, or flash, and generate an output in those format(s). Like YouTube... I have no idea how that is done. I am fascinated and was wondering if it was possible. Cheers. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Newbie on IVR
Hi, I get fascinated when I dial someone and get an IVR play " for accounts department press 1, for sales, press 2 or hold the line for an operator" and then have MOH play before the line is picked up at the desired extesion. Please, permit me as I know this will be one of the dumbest questions to ask in a group like this. I'll apprecaite any specific guide/instruction. Thanks

"Statistiques avec R"
Dear R users, I want to share my joy with you. Please see the following excellent introduction to R "Statistiques avec R " by Vincent Zoonekynd http://zoonek2.free.fr/UNIX/48_R/all.html In paticular, you can see a lot of fascinating graphics examples of R from which you can get many hints. Soryy if this is already well-known, but the CRAN search did not show nothing with the keyword

Rails to Java
Hello, I just started playing with RubyOnRails. It is indeed fascinating! I have a question about using rails models to connect to backend Java (i.e. EJBs) instead of database. Any pointers will be appreciated. Thanks and Regards, Khaled -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

initialize a factor vector
What is the least surprising way of initializing a factor with predefined levels and with length 0? as.factor(c("eins", "zwei", "drei"))[FALSE] does the job but looks a bit weird. -- Johannes H?sing There is something fascinating about science. Morse Code
This is just curiosity, but I'm wondering why the Morsecode app has remained part of the trunk for all of these years. Is there any practical use for this or is it just an homage to the ghosts of telecommunications past? Does anybody use the Morsecode app for anything interesting? I'm strangely fascinated by this core piece of Asterisk functionality. -Chris

CentOS build scripts (or equivalent) acessible?
from [CentOS] CentOS 5.4? anyone? > Is that a big problem for the people who write the code and have every > revision preserved for posterity (and for others to learn from) in a > public revision control system? > I'm not sure that I understand. Is there indeed such a public repository of the build scriptds / RPM specs used by CentOS? That would indeed be fascinating and useful

Sweave and LaTeX beamer class
I am failing to uncover Sweave chunks step by step using the LaTeX beamer class. The following minimal example: \documentclass{beamer} \usepackage{Sweave} \begin{document} \begin{frame}[fragile] In the year \uncover<2->{25}\uncover<3->{\Sexpr{5*5}} \uncover<4->{ <<echo=TRUE, print=TRUE>>= 5*5*101 @ } \end{frame} \end{document} leads to an error message when

OT: P(Z <= -1.46).
In checking over the solutions to some homework that I had assigned I observed the fact that in R (version 2.4.0) pnorm(-1.46) gives 0.07214504. The tables in the text book that I am using for the course give the probability as 0.0722. Fascinated, I scanned through 5 or 6 other text books (amongst the dozens of freebies from publishers that lurk on my shelf) and found that some agree with R

RFC: Bug-closing protocol
...as been a spate of bug-closing with what I would call inadequate documentation. Comments such as "Obsolete?" or "I assume it's fixed" could be applied to nearly every open bug we have. While this does reduce the open bug count--something I have been watching with morbid fascination for years--I do fear that the reduction is potentially artificial, and incorrectly puts the onus on the original bug author to reopen the case. I suggest that closing a bug can be done IF AND ONLY IF you also state one of the following: - that revision NNNNNN actually fixed the bug - that the bug...

[LLVMdev] Possible to compile / cross compile LLVM source on Android / ARM ?
I'm fascinated by the Pure algebraic/functional language[1]. The Pure interpreter uses the LLVM JIT compiler as its backend. I would like to compile[2] Pure so that it runs on Android / ARM. Pure has a dependency on the LLVM JIT. So I need to compile LLVM source for Pure to run. Is it possible to compile LLVM source[3] for Android (ARM) devices? There really seems to be no information about

Zaptel 'Under the Hood' Project
Hello, After poking and prodding at Asterisk and Zaptel for over a couple years now, I've dedicated some time to actually reading the code and trying to figure it out. It's been fascinating. With the driver source on one part of the screen and a pdf of "Linux Device Drivers" on another part I've aquainted myself with device driver programming and the interesting
