Thanks a bunch for that tip. I was having DNS issues, but hadn't yet gotten to the bottom of it, and this turned out to be

Markdown-Discuss Digest, Vol 103, Issue 8
You could, like the rest of us, simply skim past a post not interesting to you. Oh, but then you wouldn't get to show off how clever you are with your use of "crAppStore"!

Hello
Hello, everyone. Please forgive any rambling tone in this message, as it is
late and I am tired.
I'm parachuting in here as a long time user of the wonderful Icecast server.
My programming skills and random walk of life have progressed to the point
where I've created an Icecast-compatible HE-AAC+ source for OS X. All of
these years I've been a Winamp man, and have made limited

ZFS recovery tools
Hi,
I have just recovered from a ZFS crash. During the antagonizing time this took, I was surprised to
learn how undocumented the tools and options for ZFS recovery we''re. I managed to recover thanks
to some great forum posts from Victor Latushkin, however without his posts I would still be crying
at night...
I think the worst example is the zdb man page, which all it does is to ask you

If free space on a drive is available at time of installation, CentOS will let you install itself into it, and it will even offer to put its boot

fail2ban
For dovecot 2.1
as per wiki2, is this still valid? noticed a problem before and saw
it does seem to be triggering, I use:
maxretry = 6
findtime = 600
bantime = 3600
and there was like, 2400 hits in 4 minutes, it is pointing to the
correct log file, but I am no expert with fail2ban, so not sure if the
log format of today is compatible with the wiki2 entry

Latex no where to be seen
I'm experimenting using R as a report writer. I'm told LaTex is the
destination for my quest. But ?latex() gives me an error. The package
manager does not have it. The package installer can't find it. Where is it?
It amazes me that there's not a built in "report" function that can produce
the same kinds of reports that every report writer and data analysis

OT: programming language for morons (newbie friendly language in Open Source world)
Hi folks
I have more than 12 years experience with UNIX system administration,
but I am too stupid for programming. My only programming experience is
shell scripting. I tried to learn Java, but don't understand it
because it is too complicated for my limited brainpower.
What programming language should I learn?
A friend said that C-Sharp (Mono) is very simple. Is this true?

Why Are You Using FreeBSD?
Hi Everyone,
This is off-topic, so please feel free to disregard it, but I'm sending it to this list in the hope that it will reach a largish number of users.
I am currently looking at updating some of our advocacy material (which advertises exciting new features like SMP support), and before I do I'd like to get a better feel for why the rest of you are using FreeBSD. If you had to
