[CentOS-devel] are there any chances to see finished CentOS6 in 2011?
...ult', where there's a whole
univserse rotating around exact one single person that has weird
definitions (e.g. of 'community') and a massive lack of soft skills. In
case I feel the need to do take part in a cult, I could spend (less than
90k GBP) buying Apple stuff and become a Jobs fanboi or keep my money
and become a de Raadt fanboi.
Nothing like this is ever going to happen.

Markdown-Discuss Digest, Vol 103, Issue 8
You could, like the rest of us, simply skim past a post not interesting to you. Oh, but then you wouldn't get to show off how clever you are with your use of "crAppStore"!

Hello
...ike, and have operated my private stream using
Windows, but always wanted to free myself from the Windows environment and
have a broadcast chain using nothing but LINUX. My main server box in the
basement is the latest Ubuntu flavor.
Let it be known now that along with loving LINUX, I am an Apple fanboi and
appreciate what Apple does, even though they have recently been doing some
not-so-nice things. In any case, I've finally gained an intermediate
understanding of the wonders of Cocoa/Core Audio/Objective-C/X
Code/Interface Builder, and managed to figure out how to write an Icecast
source, s...

ZFS recovery tools
Hi,
I have just recovered from a ZFS crash. During the antagonizing time this took, I was surprised to
learn how undocumented the tools and options for ZFS recovery we''re. I managed to recover thanks
to some great forum posts from Victor Latushkin, however without his posts I would still be crying
at night...
I think the worst example is the zdb man page, which all it does is to ask you

Apple breaks stuff *all* *the* *time*. They?re famous for it.
And I?m telling you this as an Apple fanboi. I have accepted the fact that I must cope with broken stuff on my Macs, just as I do on my CentOS boxen.

fail2ban
For dovecot 2.1
as per wiki2, is this still valid? noticed a problem before and saw
it does seem to be triggering, I use:
maxretry = 6
findtime = 600
bantime = 3600
and there was like, 2400 hits in 4 minutes, it is pointing to the
correct log file, but I am no expert with fail2ban, so not sure if the
log format of today is compatible with the wiki2 entry
filter.d/dovecot.conf

Latex no where to be seen
I'm experimenting using R as a report writer. I'm told LaTex is the
destination for my quest. But ?latex() gives me an error. The package
manager does not have it. The package installer can't find it. Where is it?
It amazes me that there's not a built in "report" function that can produce
the same kinds of reports that every report writer and data analysis

Not their installer. It's pretty much the same since ancient times. If
anything it now has fewer features.

OS X 10.n only on the computer. Then shrink that volume, and make a second
volume, and install 10.n+1. Both boot. Out of the box. No post install
work. Same for Windows.

OT: programming language for morons (newbie friendly language in Open Source world)
Hi folks
I have more than 12 years experience with UNIX system administration,
but I am too stupid for programming. My only programming experience is
shell scripting. I tried to learn Java, but don't understand it
because it is too complicated for my limited brainpower.
What programming language should I learn?
A friend said that C-Sharp (Mono) is very simple. Is this true?
cheers Sven

Why Are You Using FreeBSD?
Hi Everyone,
This is off-topic, so please feel free to disregard it, but I'm sending it to this list in the hope that it will reach a largish number of users.
I am currently looking at updating some of our advocacy material (which advertises exciting new features like SMP support), and before I do I'd like to get a better feel for why the rest of you are using FreeBSD. If you had to
