automatically user expiery
Hi, my sambauser accounts should expire automatically after 90 days. What's the best way to do that? I'm looking for something similar to the passwd -e option. But the passwd -e options seems to have no effect on samba accounts. Any ideas? system: debian sarge, samba 3.0.14a Thanks, Marcus

I built samba 4.3.6 with a static vfs_acl_xattr module. It is builtin alright, it is listed under "Builtin modules" at the output of "smbd -b". Then: -- Comment"vfs

Mysql databases from old system?
Last week I had a hard disk failure on my CentOS server. I managed to re-install CentOS on a new disk. I have the old mysql databases from /var/lib/mysql . Can I just move them to my new disk? Any help or suggestions gratefully received. -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland

how to know when files have finished ftping? -- antair restored
Here's a thought: what about doing an lsof? If a file is still being written by ftpd it should be open for writing. If local Dovecot stops working, check lo
Hi all, You probably know this already, but just in case... Let's say you have your email client getting mail from a Dovecot server on the same computer (which is a really good way of doing things, by the way). Then one day your email client starts saying "connection refused" after a suitably long timeout. So then, to find out where things are getting stuck, you do the following

How to know when files have finished FTPing?
Hello: I have a server set up a CentOS 5 server for a client to push files onto using FTP. I have a cron job to process the files and move them to another directory. Sometimes, the cron job executes while the client is still uploading a file (Some of them can be large) and I get a partial file. Is there a way to tell when a file has finished uploading? I am using the vsftpd daemon installed

Dovecot, Thunderbird and messages in wrong folder
Hello, Sometimes it happens that messages (e.g. one or two) appear in wrong folders in Thunderbird (latest version, also past versions, different computers, also Earlybird). When I repair the folder (folder/Settings/Repair Folder) in Thunderbird, the folder is correct then. It happens on my new server with Fedora 20, Dovecot 2.2.13 and Maildir but it also happened on my old server with

More than 50% performance decrease.
I just installed Xubuntu 8.04, Wine 0.9.60 and Warcraft 3. Ive set it so it uses OpenGL and in game i get less than 30fps with everything on low and a low resolution. On Windows i can run it on medium with 1280x800 at 60fps. Im new to Xubuntu/linux so i dont know what could be causing it. Is this expected from Wine? Specs are 1GB RAM, Intel C2D 1.66GHZ, Intel 945GM onboard graphics.
