Question about updates again
Presumably, the CentOS 4.3 update is not far away. I have CentOS on
several servers now and am doing automatic updates. What can I excpect
when the actual update gets pushed? Is there an inclrease in the number
of patches? Does it happen all in one day? And if so, how much notice
do I have?
Although I asked on the list a while back, I got some answers that
implied said that at update

PAM session cleanup on Sol8 with v2.9.9p2
In do_pam_cleanup_proc(), there are 3 calls to PAM:
1) pam_close_session() - do lastlog stuff
2) pam_setcred(PAM_DELETE_CRED) - delete credentials
3) pam_end() - close PAM
It appears that pam_setcred() always fails with the error PAM_PERM_DENIED.
This is due to a check done pam_unix.so to not allow a caller with euid 0
to even try to delete their SECURE_RPC credentials. When sshd calls

Allowing Domain Admins root access
Hi,
We have a Windows Domain and a few Linux boxes on which we have installed Samba and set them up so people can log in using their
windows domain logins using winbind etc.
All is working fine EXCPECT for the group memberships.
I have a windows user who is a member of the "Domain Admins" group and I want them to have root privilegdes on the UNIX box.
I added a group mapping using

OT: bareos, Windoze, beating head on wall
Again, I'm posting here because when I tried their mailing list, I didn't
get much response.
I'm trying to do a restore, from my CentOS 6 box, to a WinDoze box. The
restore command is *not* user-friendly if you just want to restore a few
files. And it gets weird.... First, I have to mark my path first - I don't
just see it with ls. Then, when I do an ls, in

Hi.
It's normal for bareos mailing list and bugtrac system. Bareos is paid
support oriented (even opesourced), so don't expect so much help from
them - when they could get some money for that (paid support). For me it

RTP stream missing the target - cisco 5300 + mgcp
...t's just a configuration problem, but
maybe not.
I'm trying to make a call between a MGCP gateway and Cisco 5300 talking SIP.
Everything is fine except that audio is one way (from 5300 to MGCP
gateway only). It seems that during reinvite Cisco gets confused by
session ID and version and excpects RTP stream on different port. The
call flow on SDP level is following (ports and id's are pure fantasy for
easier reading):
* -> MGCP CRCX (session 1, port 3001, destination *)
* -> 5300 INVITE (session 1, port 3002, destination *)
5300 -> * OK (session 2, port 400...

whining about tinderbox messages
On the one hand, yes, they're about things most readers can't do anything
about.
On the other hand, they do let you know (once the tinderbox has stabilized,
this being a new setup with the bugs being worked out of it) whether recent
-STABLE will build or not, which can be quite useful even for ordinary users
of -STABLE. (You know to hold off on updating if it's failing for your

Vorbis spec bugs
Hi there !
I'm kinda "yet another guy who tries to implement a vorbis decoder
from scratch only by using the vorbis spec".
(pure Java, OO-style)
(I downloaded the long-awaited-all-in-one-PDF)
The data structures are quite ready, I can successfully load the
codec setup packet and all its components it's containing.

Code freeze, or catching up with new features
wine has evolved too much in the recent years. and with the evolution new features have come.
but unfortunately a program that tries to emulate a vast and complex system as windows are,has come to a point which it has flooded with bugs and "temp code".
So the code freeze is a refreshing point which allows the programmers - contributors to polish their code so it can take more
