XCP, Xen Cloud Control System version 0.5.5.2 released!
...hedule, I''ve just released XCCS
version 0.5.5.2 for both XCCS-VA (virtual appliance) and XCCS-SA
(standalone) packages!
This is a major upgrade for XCCS-SA, adding a load of new features
that debuted in XCCS-VA. For XCCS-VA, this is mostly a bug fix release
to to correct the host evacuate and shutdown functions for an apparent
XCP 0.5.0 bug.
This release also adds a new feature to the host evacuate function.
Any virtual machines that normally can''t be migrated (out of date PV
drivers for example) and previously were simply shut down when an
evacuate was launche...

Permanently removing vdevs from a pool
...d permanently remove a vdev from a pool without data loss? The type of pool in question here is a simple pool without redundancies (i.e. JBOD). The documentation mentions for instance offlining, but without going into the end results of doing that. The thing I''m looking for is an option to evacuate, for the lack of a better word, the data from a specific vdevs to the other vdevs in the pool, so the device can simply be removed.
Scenarios for this would be inavailability of spares (this actually happened to me, in a fairly huge computer wholesales none the less (sad chapter)) and disk repl...

safe, and if you were supposed to have evacuated, hope you did.

XCP 0.1.1,0.5RC1 bug, part 2
Ouch, this bug is worse than I thought. If there are VMs on the host
that prevent evacuation, doing host-get-vms-which-prevent-evacuation
--minimal returns nothing but Error, no list of the offending VMs or
reason.
This is an important command but from a scripting standpoint, the
screwed up output makes it pretty darned near useless.

"zfs hold" and "zfs send" on a readonly pool
Hello, all.
I''m in the process of repairing a corrupted unmirrored rpool,
and my current idea was to evacuate all reachable data by "zfs
send" to the redundant data pool, then recreate and repopulate
the rpool with copies=2.
As I previously wrote, my machine crashes when trying to
import the rpool in any sort of read-write mode, however I
got it to import with readonly=on.
I struck an...

[RFC PATCH v1 00/10] mm: Introduce and use folio_owner_ops
...some more time to explain what exactly you don't
like, because this series only refactors what we already have.
I enjoy seeing the special casing (especially hugetlb) gone from mm/swap.c.
I don't particularly enjoy overlaying folio->lru, primarily because we
have to temporarily "evacuate" it when someone wants to make use of
folio->lru (e.g., hugetlb isolation). So it's not completely "sticky",
at least for hugetlb.
Overlaying folio->mapping, similar to how "struct movable_operations"
overlay page->mapping is not an option, because folio...

v2.3.11.3 solr plugin search via MUA fails to match accented ascii characters; cmd line exec of `doveadm fts lookup` PANICs (assertion failed)
I've since rebuilt/reconfig'd all parts of my setup from scratch; some good cleanup along the way.
Atm, my entire system for send/recv, store/retrieve, + rules & search is working as I intend. Ok, mostly ...
Except for this accented-character search mystery. I've got a _lot_ of mail with various languages in bodies, so _do_ need to get this sorted.

This is really the worst part of it though
And, IMHO, seems like overkill. We have only a handful of cases -
maybe we shouldn't...

zfs eradication
Hi,
I was discussing the common practice of disk eradication used by many firms for security. I was thinking this may be a useful feature of ZFS to have an option to eradicate data as its removed, meaning after the last reference/snapshot is done and a block is freed, then write the eradication patterns back to the removed blocks.
By any chance, has this been discussed or considered before?

[LLVMdev] RFC: PowerPC tail call optimization patch

I am not sure what you mean by 'these' here. The function above
(IsPossiblyOverwritten...) is used in
LowerCALL()
forall arguments
CalculateTailCallArgDest()
to determine whether an argument needs to be evacuated to a virtual
register to prevent being overwritten.
I am not sure what you are suggesting ? Storing this information
(ispossiblyoverwritten) in the argument nodes?
as ARG_FLAGSSDNode as a new ArgFlagsTy?
You are using 'these'. I believe: the other functions e.g
