Getting EPROM programmer software to work under Wine
I have some software for an EPROM programmer that's intended to run under Windows. Of course, I would much rather it work on Wine... The software in question is available here: http://www.bkprecision.com/products/docs/software/845.zip It installs fine, but when I run it, the software loads it's UI, and then throws up a message box that says simply "EPrivilege". When you click

Vorbis 1.0 before the end of the year?
...ink there's little room for further improvement in sound quality.. - portable music devices are starting to take off (see Waitec, Creative, Apple and many other vendors). Wouldn't be good for the users and for Vorbis itself to have these babies already shipped with Vorbis specs in their eproms? Vorbis already puts competition in shame.. so why wait more? Memory problems with CentOS box
...freely. The memory is DDR400 ECC from Kingston and of the type recommended by the motherboard's manufacturer. The board is a Tyan Tomcat i875p (S5102). Would it be possible that the DIMMs are being destroyed by some software component from the OS, perhaps the I2C management? The DIMMs do have EPROMS... Are they being incorrectly accessed by some software component and their program modified? Could this be the board's fault? And how? I don't know what to think of this, I never saw anything like that in my already long experience with computers... I must say again that this memory err...

Parallel port access speed, cpu usage
...z CPUs were the speed of the parallel port was still a lot slower than on windows. I have tried on an old Pentium 233 MMX and an AMD K6-2+ 500. Parallel port access is slow, CPU usage is at 100%. Parallel port access speed scales with CPU speed. I'm using the parallel port for an EPROM burner. EPROMs that should be burned in seconds take minutes. Philipp

Also.. Relaying
I've been working with AudioActive the last couple of days to fix their behaviour... looks like they're going to update their firmware EPROMs. What are the chances that Michael's fix below could be incorporated into a future version, so that all those boxes without the Firmware upgrade will work? -Ian. <p>On 10-May-04, at 7:20 PM, Michael Smith wrote: > On Tuesday 11 May 2004 11:28, Ian Andrew Bell wrote: >> I al...

innov_save, what is it? why does it hurt me so?
hi, I am using speex1.2beta2 on a TI 54x on narrow band I have been trying to get speex to work for a while now, and it's been a real teeter-totter ride. For a long time I noticed that I will get a project to work and then without changing any code and programming it to an eprom/flash the project will not work. It turns out it was a value called innov_save. I found this bugger by zero

PXELINUX, pxechain.com and Etherboot
Hi, Anyone has tried to use pxechain with Etherboot? Here is my problem: The Etherboot client had no problem to get the list of install servers manual from the pxechain. But didn't matter which server was chosen, Etherboot client always tried to use the first server to do the installation. Etherboot 5.4 was used. What the problem may be? PXEchain or Etherboot? Thanks, Joyce --

Cisco 7960G phone crashes during SIP upgrade
Hello, I've recently received a Cisco 7960G phone with the factory default SCCP firmware on it. As we're using SIP on our network, the first things i've done was to upgrade but unfortunately the phone just restarted. By looking on the TFTP logs and tcpump output, i've seen that the phone crashed and restarted just after downloading the OS79XX.TXT file, without requesting the image

Ogg Vorbis on DSP platform?
Hello, I'd like to develop a codec for the Ogg Vorbis algorithm on a DSP (controller?) hardware platform. We've got 2 (3) main applications: 1) the codec should be used for 2 channel simultaneous message recording/playback on flash EPROM. 2) the codec should be used for streaming audio over IP or Ethernet/intranet networks. 3) for large system, the PC should serve as a storing device We

Please..... need some help
Sorry if I post in this forum, this may be not the right one, but I hope to find in here some experts which could help me out. I have in one location 8 extensions from a Panasonic PBX ?KX-TD1232? connected to FXO Ports on an MultiVoIP Gateway from Multitech. On the other location I have 8 SP5100 IP-Phones from Micronet as remote extensions. Between the locations I have a VPN.

That's an Heisenbug and the most common cause is uninitialised data. I found innov_save will write over memory

pxelinux and image selection? (fwd)
...I tried booting "bstrap.0" file contained in the RedHat pxe RPM, and this one has the stage2 PXE menu built-in. I'm still fighting to make my DHCP server send the right "filename" tag for the selected item, but at least this one displays the PXE menu as specified (old 3com EPROMs did the same without any bootstrap code). If someone is interested in the corresponding dhcpd.conf - feel free to contact me. Ciao, Marcel ---- Marcel Ritter Linux Betreuer Regionales Rechenzentrum Erlangen ---- Unix _IS_ user friendly... Newbie: any hope of running a dongle-protected app? Aladdin HASP on LPT1...
Hi, I'm a complete Wine newbie, still in the "Shock and Awe" stage... so apologies for obvious stupidities. I'm trying to run a VB6 app, probably 1999-vintage, under Wine. It is protected by a parallel port dongle from Aladdin. The app installs, the HASP drivers (latest version) apparently install, but when I run the app it tells me "HASP device driver not

innov_save, what is it? why does it hurt me so?
This must have been an enormous pain to track down. The manual alloc routine in the TI directory (user_misc.h) clears the allocated memory, but maybe you have changed this. >> it will just start filling data in, which it shouldn't. Updating MetaData at the Relay
Now that 2.2.0 is out, we can update metadata on-the-fly. At pulverradio.com we are working on an injector that takes the song info from our broadcast automation software and dumps it in (thanks guys for the help). I realize that we can inject the song info like so: http://server.ip:port/admin/metadata?mount=/ mountpoint&mode=updinfo&song=ACDC+Back+In+Black .... but are there

Problem with nmbd??
I recently installed Samba-2.0.6 on my machine. I copied the smb.conf over from another, working machine that I just got rid of. Anyway, I can't seem to get things working. Here are some files: when I 'restart' nmb in SWAT ---(log.nmb): Netbios nameserver version 2.0.6 started. [2000/02/02 13:33:19, 1] nmbd/nmbd.c:main(747) Netbios nameserver version 2.0.6 started. Tell me the truth about WINE
I'm an avid gamer, I play all kinds of games and a wide variety of specific titles, be they on the A-list or B-list. How realistic would it be for a person like me to rely solely on WINE for PC gaming? I understand that the pace with which WINE can catch up is relatively quick (a few months), but a few months is still a long time to wait if I'm itching to get started on a new release. I
