DLL not loading, msjava.dll, Encyclopedia Britannica
Hi,
excuse me if my problem is something obvious, but I'm lost and couldn't find
any useful information (is there a search function for the list archive?). Im
new to Wine (and only recently switched to Linux).
Problem:
I'm trying to run the Britannica Encyclopedia 2000 (BCD2000), but when I start
it I get the error message (in a popup window) "Unable to start the

This might be related to the bug reported earlier about parsing URLs

Can we expect to see an R package on Statistical Quality Control in the

Tetrachoric and polychoric ceofficients (for sem) - any tips?
About two years ago there was a thread about this which suggested that at
that time nobody had these coefficients ready to go.
(a) has anyone in the meanwhile programmed them?
(b) I think I can see how to do the tetrachoric one with mvtnorm on similar
lines to an example on the help page so will try that if nobody else
already has
(c) looking at the polychoric one makes me realise yet again

How much can you do without native windows?
Hi,
I''m running Mandrake 8.0 and I''d like to be able to run some windows
applications without using windows at all.
I suppose the main thing that stops me ditching windows completely is my
children not being able to run their various games and educational software (e.

Speex: complexity, VBR, ABR, CBR, quality
Hi All;
If someone used speex and has experience with its
settings, then who can help to explain the following:
1) When it is recommended to use VBR (vbr => true)?
2) If there relation between setting the vbr => true
and the abr value (for example to be 0 or 1 or 10) and
the relation between this value and abr (true /
false).
3) Any relation between the quality value and the abr
value?

multiple instances?
Hello, unosonic,
nope.... I got nothing. All I get is error code 200 or 10061 in Sam's encoder window.
(I'm using it because it gives me some sort of error code feedback unlike winamp's DNAS)
btw, what's up with the oddball ascii arrows in the XML files? (IE <!-- and --> )

Oja median
Hi Roger,
As we know that The Oja median has (finite) breakdown point 2/n, i.e.,
is not robust in any reasonable sense, and is quite expensive to
compute, so do we have some better methodology to compute multivariate

A day of trying to get something to work
Well, after spending a day of working with trying to install an assortment of
progams on my Wine installation for SuSe 10.0, I'm giving up. Every time I
get almost to the point where I think it could be useful, something happens.
The latest was a complaint at the very end of the extensive install for
Brittanica encyclopedia, saying something couldn't be found.

Some display issues
Hello,
I just got wine for my computer and I gotta say that it is awesome :D
However, I am having a slight problem. I just put my copy of Encyclopedia Britannica and Halo on it and they are both having issues. With halo I do not see any visual effects, only a white background and black buttons on the main menu (or vice versa, I can't remember which way it was). With Britannica my screen

install failure
Hello, i am trying to install "Middle School Success Essentials" from Topics Education, on my 0.9.28 wine installation, which works OK with some MS progs.
The initial (unpacking?) progress bar completes and then i get the error below, without any recourse. Does anyone have any ideas? (FWIW, the error is shown in the installer box when you click on the "Details" button).
