DLL not loading, msjava.dll, Encyclopedia Britannica
Hi, excuse me if my problem is something obvious, but I'm lost and couldn't find any useful information (is there a search function for the list archive?). Im new to Wine (and only recently switched to Linux). Problem: I'm trying to run the Britannica Encyclopedia 2000 (BCD2000), but when I start it I get the error message (in a popup window) "Unable to start the application - Java virtual machine not found". As far as I could figure out, the JVM included on the CD was correctly installed in /wine-c/windows/system/Msjava.dll (/wine-c is my vi...

Bug?
Hi, This might be related to the bug reported earlier about parsing URLs with parens, but the following looks like a bug to me: [ZIP archives](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZIP_(file_format) "ZIP (file format) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia") gets rendered by Markdown 1.01 as: <p><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZIP_(file_format">ZIP archives</a> "ZIP (file format) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia")</p> Shouldn't it be, instead: <p><a href="http://en.wikip...

Levene's test
...tributed? Not that I > don't believe that it might be the case, I just sort of expected that > something more elaborate was required. This isn't really Levene's test, and I was making no claims as to validity, just demonstrating how to do a calculation. However, the entry in the Encyclopedia of Statistical Sciences does say that's what done for the original form, and appears to say the same for the Brown-Forysthe median form, so I guess this was what Murray had in mind. -- Brian D. Tetrachoric and polychoric ceofficients (for sem) - any tips?
About two years ago there was a thread about this which suggested that at that time nobody had these coefficients ready to go. (a) has anyone in the meanwhile programmed them? (b) I think I can see how to do the tetrachoric one with mvtnorm on similar lines to an example on the help page so will try that if nobody else already has (c) looking at the polychoric one makes me realise yet again

How much can you do without native windows?
...0 and I''d like to be able to run some windows applications without using windows at all. I suppose the main thing that stops me ditching windows completely is my children not being able to run their various games and educational software (e. g. Dorling Kindersley CDROMs "Eyewitness Encyclopedia of Science", "Eyewitness History of the World" etc.). I''ve trawled through the archives and the codeweavers wine applications database, but people don''t often say whether they are runnning with or without windows dlls. Could someone give me some indication of wh...

Oja median
Hi Roger, As we know that The Oja median has (finite) breakdown point 2/n, i.e., is not robust in any reasonable sense, and is quite expensive to compute, so do we have some better methodology to compute multivariate median Rahul Agarwal Analyst Equities Quantitative Research UBS_ISC, Hyderabad On Net: 19 533 6363 [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

A day of trying to get something to work
...a day of working with trying to install an assortment of progams on my Wine installation for SuSe 10.0, I'm giving up. Every time I get almost to the point where I think it could be useful, something happens. The latest was a complaint at the very end of the extensive install for Brittanica encyclopedia, saying something couldn't be found. Why does everything have to allow you to get to the end before complaining? I think it's a ploy by Microsoft agents within the open source community, to demoralize the users so they'll either give up or spend more valuable hours of their lives fu...

Some display issues
Hello, I just got wine for my computer and I gotta say that it is awesome :D However, I am having a slight problem. I just put my copy of Encyclopedia Britannica and Halo on it and they are both having issues. With halo I do not see any visual effects, only a white background and black buttons on the main menu (or vice versa, I can't remember which way it was). With Britannica my screen keeps flickering. i have tried to fiddle with the settin...

Not a page full of information overload that may or may not address the issue at hand. I do not wish to have to read an encyclopedia to discover out a simple answer. for example do I have to create an ENTIRELY NEW SECTION in the config file (which will probably create a problem in configs if it's referencing the same section name twice) There is a LOT of stuff on that page... care to either shave it down to ONE specific l...

The initial (unpacking?) progress bar completes and then i get the error below, without any recourse. Does anyone have any ideas? (FWIW, the error is shown in the installer box when you click on the "Details" button). TIA
