Icecast2 / edcast Initial Setup Question
Hi, I have setup Icecast2 and edcast (standalone) on an XPSP3 machine. The basic setup works. I can speak into a microphone and hear my voice from another PC on a LAN. Now I want to "stream a file" such as an mp3 podcast I made or just a song (mp3, acc etc.) or play a CD and don't know what to even search for in t...

Regarding edcast with icecast2.4
Hello all. So I just thought I would come in here and ask you all a couple of questions regarding edcast. First off let me tell you my situation. I am managing a radio station and my icecast server the way I have it set up the source of which the broadcaster connects to has to have a username and password for a mount point that is being passed through the server. Basically these are all mountpoint...

slightly offtopic, uninstalling edcast
Hi all, I have edcast on my computer, but I didn't check the box to install the mp3 encoder, and it is not installing correctly after it has been deleted from the location it is installed in. It doesn't show up in the control panel list, so can't do anything about it there. How do I completely remove edcast...

still having problems with edcast
Ok all, I have deleted the edcast folder on my machine and reinstalled edcast. However, I can't get the mp3 encoder to install. Tim said that it should ask if you want the encoder, and I thought I selected it under the select components to install, but it isn't installing. Two additional things are happening, 1. Whe...

You will also need a method seperate from your source computer to tune-in t= o the stream - another computer or a friend with a PC you can be in communication with. We will be using several programs to achieve this. These are: VB-Cable from Pagesperso-orange.fr edcast reborn from code.google.com LAME MP3 from rarewares.org VLC from videolan.org First, you will need to download and install several pieces of software. We will do this before continuing to configuration. Please follow the direc= tions as given as not doing so may cause errors in setup or configurat...

I've got the icecast2 server set up, and to date have streamed playlists only via ices0 or ices2, now I'm wanting to stream live using winamp. Software wise, I'm needing to use free or open source software, the icecast2 server is a Linux machine, the Winamp will be on either a Win7 or a WinXP

Fwd: Random "fast forward" noise between tracks
...y something else in my setup). Here is my configuration: Foobar2000 is running on a Windows XP PC. It has the Oddcast plugin and it is streaming to a Linux machine that is running Icecast Server 2.3.2. Foobar2000 is using the Crossfade, Compressor and Advanced Limiter DSP plugins on top of the edCast plugin. The problem: Seemingly at random, in between tracks, there is a "fast forward" noise like a tape being played on fast forward. It sounds like the next track is being played at about ten times normal speed, then the next track after that plays normally. Has anyone heard of this...

Idea to possibly improve flac?
I'd like to express a few things whilst I have the ear atleast a few folks. There once was a program called oddcast, and then edcast that you could use on linux to broadcast an OggFLAC encoded audio stream from jack. Sounds like something many folks would be interested in doing, but I haven't heard to much of a peep about it. At any rate, it had a a few issues legally and technical problems broadcasting an OggFLAC stream ( a...

streaming to broadband and modem users and an intro file
Hello, I've got an icecast2 server set up. I'm streaming to it with winamp and the edcast plugin my thanks to everyone who helped me get that going. An aside is it possible to use a compressor plugin like audiostocker on an outbound stream going through edcast? I've googled that this is possible with winamp and shoutcast servers but not seeing how to run two dsp plugins to an icecas...

tools for broadcasting
...oblem I see with this is that in Audasity, you can't play and record at the same time. Well, you can, but the broadcast would be full of breaks when I switch inputs to record the songs from the player. To the icecast list, what do you recommend as a tool for broadcasting? The other problem with Edcast is that you can't change the playlist unless you are on the mic unless you happen to have vision, which I do not, so my screen reader is going to come over the air, which I don't want. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... is there a way to do a "push relay"?
perhaps a little difficult to explain - please bear with me. We use 2 icecast servers. server1 is managed by us, server2 by our service provider. Therefore it's easy to make config changes to server1, less easy for server2. I generate a stream using edcast, and send it to both servers. Sometimes I do this by creating 2 streams within edcast, sometimes I just send the stream to server2, and set up server1 as a relay. Both options work well. However, in a few weeks time, we're going to be briefly in a situation where it will not be possible to se...
