data set changes
Hi all, Here's my story. I have 3 hosts, 1 remote and 2 local. We'll say for the sake of clarity that h1 is remote and h2 is the local rsync pull host and h3 is also a local host on the net. Using rsync, I want to pull a data set first from h1 to both h2 and h3. The first pull copies all the data from h1 to h2 and h3. OK, that gives me a baseline of the data on both h2 and h3.

[patch] sftp-server basepath [yet another]
Hi, I made this simple path to make sftp-server restricted to a basepath! This was done because use sshfs [wich base is sftp-server] to allow people access medias [ cdrom, dvdrom, floppy, usb] from x-terms. Those x-terms [ diskless] does not have all users, so we share a single user and a DSA empty passphrase, with some acl scipts at .ssh/authorized keys. Main usage of this patch is to NOT allow a user who mounted a floppy access other mounted media from another user. Us...

Xen 4.1.1 HVM guest cdrom trouble, lost interrupts, ata failed commands (frozen)
...#39; tsc_mode=0 usb=1 usbdevice=''tablet'' keymap=''fi'' I''m using "xm create" to start the HVM guest. I noticed I can workaround the problem with the following methods: - Specify "xen_platform_pci=1" in the domain cfgfile. The emulated dvdrom drive works then, but there are other problems (nic doesn''t work - the mac address is all empty and the installer fails). Guest dmesg from this case also attached to this email. - Upgrade Xen hypervisor to 4.1.2 (rpms available in f16 updates-testing). Emulated dvdrom works then wit...

CentOS Wiki How TOs
.... Maybe some type of back up to cdrom or dvd rw? 2. User "beginner" says that long script scares them. 3. Maybe a real short *.gz and then a cdrecord command to burn to the cd/dvd rom. It would need a limitting factor as in size for the backup. As in 650MBs for cdrom and 3.5 GBs for dvdrom. What comes to my mind is the one that Comes with Debian and Ubuntu. ####Misc Section#### 1. How to extract *.iso files images in CentOS. Can be a GUI tutorial. 2. Creating pdf files from within OpenOffice. Err Adobe reader for CentOS. Adobe Flash. Java for Fire Fox? -- ~/john O...

Trouble with XCP .5 ISO booting
...I do not have another server to try. The screen remains on that ISOLINUX message, with a flashing prompt, and the CD continuously runs. I have let it run for upto 1 hour just in case it was "thinking". On this same server I have run through a debian and centos installation to verify the dvdrom/cdrom and other components are ok. Thanks for any suggestions! -Aaron _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Creating a DVD with bootable ISOs
Hi All, My question is: Is it possible to make a DVD-R/DVD+R with a boot menu so that you could select a particular bootable ISO on the DVD, and boot into that distro? Asked another way, is it possible to boot an ISO burned as an ISO9660 file on CD or DVD media? If it is, how can this be accomplished? TIA, Andrew.

Problems installing 5.1 on a Tyan Thunder HEsl with a SCSI controller
...be a kernel boot option that I could give the installer, but I don't know what that would be. I know the SCSI IDs of the three HDDs (and the controller), is there a way to say "just use these IDs and move along"? I'm currently downloading a Fedora 9 CD (I don't have a spare DVDROM) to see if a newer kernel will help, as going back down to CentOS 5.0 didn't (I had it at hand). Thanks for any help! --Tim

CentOS 5 Xen Dom0 Kernel doesn't see CDROM
Hi all, I have successfully got Xen virtualisation configured with CentOS 4 (64bit). However now that I am using the Xen Kernel my Dom0 doesn't seem to see the DVDROM device. Is this intentional in the kernel? Is there anything (apart from compiling my own kernel) that will enable the Dom0 to see the DVD-ROM device? mountmgr doesn't recognize d:: link to /dev/sr0
I am a Fedora 13 user, so HAL automounts CDROMs and DVDROMs on /media/<LABEL> (this node is also dynamically created and removed from the /media/ directory as needed). II would like to assign a device drive letter to /dev/sr0 to reference any CD or DVD when inserted (e.g. d:: --> /dev/sr0), instead of having to manually create a symlink to the dy...

Can someone please help me with writing a udev rule? I need /dev/ttyUSB0 to automatically have 777 rights when plugged in. I'd like it to only apply to that one specific device. I'm not sure where to start, what files to look at and also what to write to make it work. TIA Brad This e-mail transmission contains information that is confidential and may be privileged. Update to base release
Hello All, We have some machines running CentOS 4 Update 4 (4.4). We want to update these boxes to the stock CentOS 4 Update 8 (4.8). We have the 4.8 iso images. Is it possible to use up2date and have it use the 4.8 mounted iso images on a remote (install) server as the repository? The ISO's are accessible through http. These servers are remote with no CD/DVD option to upgrade that way. I have
