Icecast source encoder that can handle http streams?
...ernal icecast source app that seems to handle http streams is MuSE, and I'm having a hell of a time getting it working. Does anyone know of any other way I can accomplish this? -- owen at nerdnetworks.org (Owen B. Printing zero as dot
I'm pretty sure I've seen some examples of a function printing zero entries in a matrix as dots, but I'm not able to find it now... Any suggestions...? Thanks in advance. (Of course, I might have dreamt of such a function...) How to use Rails and REST
Hi, I just wrote an article on how to easily create a REST API for Ruby on Rails applications: http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2006/04/19/rest-on-rails.html It describes how to create everything from the ground up and includes information on testing your API too. -- Thanks, Dan Kubb

OT: Data mining on demand .Using cloud computers.
...ng the Ohri framework for creating R Rattle GUI (can be placed by any analytical software) in a cloud computer . With pay per usage of processing power. And very user friendly to analysts who did not pay for masters degree.or to small consultants. If you are a small academic or a consultant who has dreamt of lot more processing power, here is a framework. It may be totally crap, but the intention is to take data mining to the common masses. Its only fair to pay per usage. Why pay for software , when on your coffee break. Even if you are poor.Especially so. Thanks for reading this. Ajay Ohri http:/...

openssh-unix-dev Digest, Vol 8, Issue 15
...ovided as part of OS X. Apple published an API for it. An OS X compile would store and retrieve keys from Keychain in lieu/addition to the SSH Agent. Keychain is to OS-X what the ssh-agent is to ssh. This makes perfect sense, and I haven't been sufficiently peeved to do this yet, but I have dreamt of this myself. It really should be up in the sysdep stuff. That way you can distribute a tarball. People can test that, and later it can get merged into the ssh tree. For now, I, if not others, am interested in this code. Please do share: either diffs or tarball! On Dec 21, 2003, at 11:11 PM...

OT- Using TR-069
Hi, Phone vendors (Snom, Thomson-Technicolor, ...) are on the way to support TR-069 (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TR-069). Has someone experienced with TR-069 ? What do you think of this protocol set ? Regards -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Why ActiveResource won't make it...
...? Thought so. A web service interface needs to be stable, hiding the implementation and any changes in it. It needs to be *decoupled* from changes ot the internal schema. Rails is built on _extraction_. It seems to me that ActiveResource - along with all the upcoming REST pixie dust - has been dreamt up before actually being used in succesful apps. Is there any publically available app exposing an ActiveResource api? Does it have any external clients? I''m all for REST, and I''d love to see a RESTful competitor to SOAP, but it needs to be stable, static, decoupled from intern...

A kind of monkey patch and an invitation for criticism for all you (who know this stuff better than I do)
...lash notices with text helpers or html escaping. I loved this suggestion, which helps by not cluttering the namespace of controllers: http://snippets.dzone.com/posts/show/1799 But I wanted to generalize this a little to automatically include whatever helper modules are included in the views. So I dreamt up 35 lines of goodness: class Object def metaclass; class << self; self; end; end end module ActionController class Base class_inheritable_accessor :controller_helper_module class_inheritable_accessor :controller_helper_object self.controller_helper_module = Module.new...

Permission problem in message command with guest ftp user
I haven't seen this posted so I will add one more reason why the message command may not work: Permissions. I have this in my [global]: message command = /bin/bash -c 'cat %s | mutt -s You_logged_on jlh;rm %s' & This never would work and I never could figure out why. Turns out that I have guest user ftp, who for security reasons doesn't have much in the way of write

Computer algebra in R - would that be an idea??
>From time to time people request symbolic computations beyond what D() and deriv() etc can provide. A brief look at the internet shows that there are many more or less developed computer algebra packages freely available. Therefore, I wondered if it would be an idea to try to 'integrate' one of these packages in R, which I guess can be done in more or less elegant ways... I do not know

Mac OS X Keychain Support
Hello, I'm a Mac OS X user, and I got tired of typing my password every time I want to login, but didn't want to use ssh-agent and the like. So, I grabbed the code for OpenSSH 3.7p1, and made some modifications which allow passwords to be stored and recalled from the OS X Keychain. The reason I'm posting to this list is that I'd like to make these modifications available to
