Backup strategy using 2 HDD + 2 drawers
Hi, One of my CentOS 4 server is a repository for backups for other machines. In this server, there is a 3ware RAID card and 2 HDD for the OS + data of this server. I also have 2 drawers (each containing one 200GB hdd), connected to a promise TX2000 card. One disk will remain in the server and one will be taken outside. What would be the best strategy for syncing the hdd when I swap them? Note: I don't want to do hot swap. No problem putting this server down once a wee...

Textmate project drawer: is there a Windows alternative?
I was reading about the project drawer feature in Textmate, which is Mac only. Is there a similar feature in a Windows based text editor that works with R. This feature sounds really useful. Thanks, Graham [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

sieve fileinto rule (pigeonhole)
Hello, i discovered that when a sieve rule "fileinto drawer;" tries to deliver a mail into a non existent drawer, the drawer gets created. This is neat, but is there also a way to automatically subcribe to the created folder ? Regards, Oliver Eales

I just realised than I followed the libguestfs PKGBUILD, but NO virt-p2v and virt-v2v binaries are installed in /usr/bin. Shame. I am rewriting the git PKGBUILD.

Shortcuts not appearing in gnome panel drawers
I'm trying to trace why launchers created by wine due to a program installation are not appearing in the menus on my system. The launchers appear to have the correct contents, but for some reason gnome-panel is not adding them to my menus. Does anyone know how to run the relavent gnome tools with options to see what's happening when gnome reads these launchers. Keep in mind that there

SMB server with CentOS 4
...er. I'll be managing this server, which is currently a staging server for web development (php/mysql/cvs). Anyone has a opinion on this, or better ideas? My backups will be based on utilities and mondorescue, kept on a internal (cold-swap drawer) hard-drive that I would take every week (2-drawers rotation). Any recommendations welcome, will provide more details if needed. TIA, -- Ugo -> Please don't send a copy of your reply by e-mail. OFF TOPIC: Nature article on File Drawer Problem in Reserach
I know you didn't want to stimulate discussion, but the problem is not confined to publication. "Adverse reaction to medication" monitoring programs are plagued by a similarly massive under-reporting problem: adverse reactions are seldom reported unless they are particularly bad or surprising. (The Ministry of Health in my country estimates 90% of cases are never reported.)

OFF TOPIC: Nature article on File Drawer Problem in Reserach
Again, this is off topic, not about statistics or R, but I think of interest to many on this list. The title is: "So you got a null result. Will anyone publish it?" https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-024-02383-9 Best to all, Bert

OFF TOPIC: Nature article on File Drawer Problem in Reserach
Dear Bert, You have made my day!! Your post is a great help and very useful in my field. The paper is not among the off-the-shelf research output. Some of us, who get into unenviable conflict and disputation with some reverenced authorities in our field, understand the weight of the article. I had not even consumed half of it before I decided to thank you. I will quickly go back to see how it

TextMate Sidebar
Hey David, I just watched the RubyConf recording of your RSpec session and noticed that you''re using a modified version of TextMate that uses a sidebar instead of a project drawer. Samba 3.4 / 3.5: Printer settings not available for normal users
Hello, since samba 3.4 we have the problem, that printer options, preconfigured by the admin (number of paper trays, output etc.), are not available for normal users. They only see the default settings. Domain Admins and users with SePrintOperatorPrivilege doesn't have this problem. Guenther already started fixing this issue about 3/4 year ago

Any switchers from mod_perl
Good afternoon, I have been developing in mod_perl for many years, and my livelihood is based on being productive with it. I''ve spent the past week reading and testing RoR and it does look good. But before I take the plunge for my next project, I was hoping to hear from other mod_perl switchers. One of the main reasons I like mod_perl is code flexibility. I like being able to insert
