Draytek Vigor 2900 & Asterisk
I'm in conversation with Draytek's pre-sales dept.............. Here's the most recent reply: <Hello, We really don't know of anyone who has run an Asterisk server on a Vigor2900. There are doubtless people around, but it's relatively rare. Most people don't run SIP servers. Regards,> All I want to know is, if I buy one of these routers, will it break my setup or

Creating variable names
My apologies for asking what is doubtless a dumb question, but I have scant experience in R. It would be very convenient in doing lots of plots to be able to do them in a loop that stepped through a vector of variable names. For example one could say x<-("mydates") y<-c("foo1","foo2","foo3") #where "foon" were vectors

Managing R packages under Linux
Greetings, I need to develop a way to manage the installation and update of R packages under linux (CentOS), hopefully using Puppet. I''ve got most of the rest of hodge-podge of install scripts and maintenance scripts translated into Puppet and need to tackle this beast now. R is a programming language for statistics, basically, and has a few jillion add on package libraries, very much

very beginner's question
Begging the list's indulgence, an extremely dumb beginner's question. I've got 24 months' worth of numbers - ranging from 2 events per month, to 66 events per month. I want to take a stab at making a reasonable guess as to what the next year's data would be, approximately, i.e., based on the 24 months I've got, I want to be able to tell someone: "the 12 months after

ACLs as Standard Component in ext3?
To all: I was wondering if there was any talk regarding the possible inclusion into either kernel 2.4.x or 2.5.x of a general and standard ACL interface for file system security. I've used the ACL patch from acl.bestbits.at on ext3 & love it dearly except for the quota issues. Despite those issues I absolutely could not live without ACL's on large file servers with a few hundred or

Apostrophes in R Commander in recode
Dear colleagues, I'm using R64 (2.13) on Mac OS 10.6.8 and I've encountered a problem with the recode function in Rcommander. The application cannot deal with apostrpohes ( ' ) do not. I've got a factor from the 2008 Canada Election study (highest level of schooling) and some of the values include "Bachelor's Degree" , "Master's Degree". I've

Regular expressions & large strings (PR#6617)
A possible regex bug when working with large strings. The following code snippet t5 <- paste( c( "# === TEST", rep(' ', 2452294) ), collapse='') str( sub("^.*TEST", "xyz", t5) ) str( sub("^.*TEST", "xyz", substr(t5,0,200)) ) doesn't behave right; on one machine, the second and third lines print different results [the

"no pool_props" for OpenSolaris 2009.06 with old SPARC hardware
Hi, yesterday evening I tried to upgrade my Ultra 60 to 2009.06 from SXCE snv_98. I can''t use AI Installer because OpenPROM is version 3.27. So I built IPS from source, then created a zpool on a spare drive and installed OS 2006.06 on it To make the disk bootable I used: installboot -F zfs /usr/platform/`uname -i`/lib/fs/zfs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s0 using the executable from my new

Hierarchical data sets: which software to use?
Dear R-helpers, I’m writing for advice on whether I should use R or a different package or language. I’ve looked through the R-help archives, some manuals, and some other sites as well, and I haven’t done too well finding relevant info, hence my question here. I’m working with hierarchical data (in SPSS lingo). That is, for each case (person) I read in three types of (medical) record: 1.

2.2.15: SMTP submission server?
List, we're migrating to 2.2 from a 1.x version. There has been mention from time to time of a dovecot SMTP submission server. Last I saw was Timo suggesting this would be a 2.3 feature, but that there was already a 'basic' capability in 2.2 that, more or less, merely provided a secured/authorised SMTP submission. I haven't found anything about this in the wiki, but the

Hi, > I am confused. Shouldn't the gcc 4.2 front-end build behave > just like the FSF gcc build. Thus a newly built C compiler is always available to build later stages. We can't reasonably

Plotting horizontal dendrograms
I am using hclust and plot to produce dendrograms. Using my input data I am able to complete an analysis and obtain a vertical plot. I want to be able to plot the dendrogram horizontally.I am using version 2.6 of R and have updated my packages recently. Using the sample script for dendrograms I can produce a horizontal plot using the instruction horiz = TRUE in plot(). When I use the same

[LLVMdev] gfortran link failure in current llvm svn
Duncan, I am confused. Shouldn't the gcc 4.2 front-end build behave just like the FSF gcc build. The first stage builds the compilers and the second stage rebuilds them using those from the first stage? Periodicity of Weekly Zoo
Hi List, I have weekly sales observations for several products drawn via ODBC. Source data is available at https://www.dropbox.com/s/78vxae5ic8tnutf/asr.csv. This is retail sales data, so will contain seasonality and trend information. I expect to see 52 or 53 observations per year, each observation occuring on the same day of the week (Saturday). Ultimately I'm looking to feed these series

list proposal
With the increased traffic as of late, I'm wondering if it is time to split the list again. Specifically I am wondering if it should be split along the various VoIP protocols and zap hardware, then leave a general list that does configuration other than VoIP related? The hope is that those asking SIP or H323 questions could get help from the various supporters while the main list can deal

How to make R faster?
Dear R users; I am using R for a project. I have some PHP forms that pass parameters to R for calculations, and publish the result in HTML format by CGIwithR. I'm using a Linux machine and every things work perfectly. However, it is too slow, it takes 5 to 10 seconds to run, and even if I start R from the Shell it takes the same amount of time, which is probably due to installing packages.

[LLVMdev] Turning on LegalizeTypes by default
Hi all, I plan to turn on the new type legalization infrastructure "LegalizeTypes" by default tomorrow. This is a redesign/reimplementation of the logic currently in LegalizeDAG that turns (for example) 64 bit arithmetic on a 32 bit machine into a series of 32 bit operations. As well as being a cleaner design, it also supports code generation for arbitrary precision integers such as
