I am trying to install the Doom3 game, and the install is failing. I believe it failed when it tried to switch CDs; it never asked for the second cd, just went straight to the closing dialogs. Now, it's so messed up I can't even uninstall it. When running the uninstall option from the wine menu, it quits and does nothing....

I have been trying to install several games, and all of the ones that have more than one disk fail, one way or another, at the point of changing cd's. Some (doom3) just quit [there exists an alternative plan for doom3], and others (Baldur's Gate-SoA) lock up the cd and won't let go. The only way to get the cd out is to kill the installer. Hi, I just bought the above named Laptop and was wondering if there is anything I need to watch out for besides not having 3D acceleration because they use ATI grafic cards? Maybe the built in wireless card might not work too. Other then that can anyone think of anything else? ...me works fine. I switched off Compiz using the Compiz Fusion Icon, setting the window manager to KWin before firing up Prey. Running at 1024*768 with all advanced video options turned on I am getting a frame rate varying between 30 and 70 fps. No 'sticky' graphics either. Same applies with Doom3. Haven't tried anything else yet.

When i run the game from the linux shell it gives me no error =/ nothing happens...wine simply hangs up. Any suggestion? I cannot get wine to run in kubuntu-9.04, on an x-64 machine.This is with the standard video drivers, nothing extra added. I have tried both the wine version in the repository, and the beta version from budgetdirect(?). Winecfg does run in the repository version, not in the beta version. Hi, I am running wine 0.9.58 and having problems running Counter Strike: Source, Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. I think this is caused by the direct x layer in wine. My system runs opengl programs fine using the ATI driver (Radeon 3850). Is there any way I can test directx functionality without having to download a game? Dxdiag.exe is not included in wine.
