Active Directory Integration Problems
Hello everyone,
I have setup Samba 3.0.28a on an Ubuntu 8.04 server. The setup that I
am working with is an exact copy (as far as I can tell) if an identical
installation that I did on a test box. Kerberos is setup and working
properly. I can use kinit to issue tickets. The box has been
successfully joined to the Active Directory domain. I can enumerate AD
users and groups. I can log

Unknown parameter encountered: "ads server" - Samba in ADS.
Hi,
Im running debian 3 woody using kernel 2.2.x and samba 2.2.7. When I try to
join the box to my ADS using smbpasswd -j DOM -r DOMPDC -Uusr%pass it says
"Unknown parameter encountered: "ads server"". It also says "Unknown
parameter encountered: "realm"". Then it says that it'll ignore those lines.

How to join a win2k-domain using Samba 2.*
The documentation that I found regarding this issue wasn't that good - it didn't help me that much. Later on I managed to join the win2k-domain after a lot of work. Thus I'm writing this letter in order to help people who were in my situation.
This was my problem and the solution I devised for it:
I was using samba-2.2.3a (debian package) and the windows-domain I tried to join is

Samba - User Authentication
Hi Robert and List,
As you told me I upgrated to Samba 2.2.5 because I'm doing the test with a
machine which has RedHat 8.0 and this RedHat version comes with it....
Anyway.....
So I made the procedure step by step but I haven't found how to make my
Windows 2000 users (PDC) can access the Linux shared folder and this is
what I've done:
My smb.conf looks like this:

** recall a previous post of mine about the samba servers being unable to
rejoin the domain. It turns out I had run "smbpasswd -j DOM -r DOMPDC"
more than once. Perhaps the DOMAIN_MEMBER.txt/html files could be changed
to include a warning about the effect of joining the domain twice and hos
to fix it?
Does the NT server/PDC cache information about domain members that is the
cause of the current problem? Would rebooting the PDC he...

Samba 2.2.4 on Redhat Linux 7.2 - Domain Auth Question
Hi all,
I'am trying to set up my Samba server to use DOMAIN auth. I followed
the instructions in the "security = domain in Samba 2.x" and had good
results. Used this command to join the domain "smbpasswd -j DOM -r DOMPDC
-UAdministrator%password" and I got the result "smbpasswd: Joined domain
DOM."
I added the entries into the configuration file to complete security

Unable to join samba server to a NT4 style domain
Hello,
I have installed Samba version 3.0.13 on a Solaris 9 machine and am trying to add it to an existing NT domain as a member server. I have followed the instructions in Chapter 2 of the Samba HOW-TO collection for adding a samba server as a Domain member. The problem is that when i use the net rpc join command to join the domain, I get the following error:

...Samba machine to the the NT domain via Server Manager.
Stop the Samba services, if running. If they're started via
inetd, you'll have to comment out nmbd in inetd.conf, signal inetd to
re-read its config file, then kill nmbd.
Add the Samba machine to the domain with
smbpasswd -j DOM -r DOMPDC.
Reinstate nmbd if necessary.
Samba itself is great, much better than the nasty Interdrive NFS I
intend it to replace.

Nick

...Samba server on my FreeBSD as a member of the NT domain DOM.
I put it into NT domain exactly as this was described in the docs.
1. Added Samba to the NT domain using Server Manager as a "WinNT Server".
2. Stopped smbd & nmbd.
3. Joined the domain by the command: smbpasswd -j DOM -r DOMPDC
4. put in smb.conf lines:
secutity = domain
workgroup = DOM
encrypt password = yes
password server = DOMPDC
5. Started samba.
Everything works fine with this and Samba can share it's resources with the
domain members.
The problem is that according to our schedule PDC shuts down every...
