...directly...he's more familiar with the law than me. if you want to mention that on the website too when you get time.... thanks and sorry about this shitty decision, [station manager] ========================================================================= Now, from my inderstanding the the DMCA and recent events, it is possible that we will be made to pay some royalties to the record labels. However, we are a very small radio station with a very small webcasting audiance. We don't pay any royalties to broadcast over the air. My belief is that we should not halt our webcast for fear...

Again, your purchase of music grants you only certain rights, and the RIAA is trying to see to it that those rights are further restricted. DMCA is one, there is additional legislation being considered to further restrict US consumer freedoms. Sean... -- WWJD? Urgent information (legal stuff) about the future of SAMBA
I am sending you this email because of an incident which threatens the very existance of Samba. Earlier today, the bnetd project was shut down to the DMCA. Since bnetd is alot like Samba, I figured you would be interested. Bnetd is a server that pretends to be a battle.net server (starcraft multiplayer). This server was created by reverse engineering the communcations protocol, just like Samba was. However, blizzard is now going after this projec...

Not sure what the DMCA has to do with anything being discussed here.. But, if she can stream but not download (which I don't quite understand), then wouldn't it be easier to throw those mp3 files in a directory under apache or even under icecast (the static_file dir) and just strea...

I only started this so my ex-girlfriend on the other side of the world could hear a song (downloading mp3's was not possible for complex reasons but streaming audio was) but goddammit i'm going to make this thing work if it kills me. ...and I doubt they will come out anywhere near that amount. It just isn't feasible, even for large companies. Reember, tradidional radio doesn't have to pay these, even if they are broadcasting online. Nor are they subject to the compulsory license. There's still a possibility that the DMCA will be dismantled before the arbitration is even finished. You shouldn't have to pay the RIAA anyway, and the fact that they are even involved is astrocious. > All the W3C 'specs' are released in an RFC style, free to all.. not NS nor > MS nor anyone else can charge for impl...

Below is some sample code. In the end I want to export the coefficients to a spreadsheet. Will you please direct me to the appropriate syntax? Thanks for your time, --Eric

legalities of streaming
Ditto Scott - you nailed it !! But the DMCA actually sets rules on requests and processing them without being considered "interactive" - for instance the time frame allowed from when requests are made and then processed and actually air (minimum 60 minutes), to displaying your playlist - (can not be displayed public in the order o...

Sync Linux <-> NT Domain passwords
Is there a way to syncronise the Windows Domain passwords with the linux account passwords? SAMBA passes authentication to an NT box password server = * Users have local accounts on the Linux box and get access to SAMBA shares depending on which group (linux) they belong to and if their authentication credentials were correct. I've tried synchronising their passwords so when they change
