Problems with PXELINUX falling through to localboot on a HP Proliant DL385
I'm having problems with PXELINUX passing through to a "localboot" on a
HP Proliant DL385. I'm working with 3.73.
If I configure PXELINUX to directly "localboot", everything works. If
I configure PXELINUX to use menu.c32 or anything like that, a subsequent
localboot fails. I see the expected "PXE ROM exiting" message but the
next device doesn't kick...

Automatically detecting LUNs without a reboot
Hi everybody.
I have an HP StorageWorks array connected to one of my servers,
connected via an LSI controller (lspci reports: SCSI storage controller:
LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS1068E PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS (rev 08))
on an HP DL385 running CentOS 5.5 x86_64.
I have set up multipath and all is working but, when I create a snaphost
and export it as a new LUN from the HP web interface, it does not appear
as a new disk. If I reboot, I get the LUN to appear as a new SCSI
device (sd[a-z]).
Is there any way I can force automat...

BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#?
...#39;m seeing an
annoying problem that I thought worthy of a post.
Config:
I have 2 x HP DL585 servers each with 4 Dual core Opterons (non-vmx) and 16GB RAM
configured as Xen servers. These run CentOS 5.1 with the latest updates applied. These
system both attach to an iSCSI target which is an HP DL385 running ietd and serving SAN
based storage.
I have a test VM running CentOS 5.1 also updated.
Problem:
If I run the VM on a single server everything is OK. If I do a migrate of the VM to the
other server I start getting random "BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#?" messages on the
VM co...

checksum offloading causing problems?
...the DomU and a few seconds later
things started working again, so I think that fixed it but I''m not
completely sure.
Any suggestions? Are there any known fixes in newer versions of xen?
I''m running an almost identical setup (same Dom0 kernel) on similar
hardware (HP ML370 vs HP DL385), and the DL385 works fine...

kernel panic PCI-DMA: Random memory would be DMAed
I am attempting to run Xen 3.1.1 on a HP DL385 G2 box (opteron based system),
using Gentoo. The machine will boot, and I can login and edit files etc, but
as soon as I do anything more intensive such as copying files off a cdrom
(making me think it is a cciss driver problem) or running make, I get the
following :

Connecting a Rolm CBX to Asterisk via T1?
Hi all,
So I'm trying to work on this complex fax server setup, and part of it involves connecting my asterisk server to my Rolm CBX switch, via a T1 line. I plan on using Asterisk simply as a T1-PRI Bridge to IAXmodem (which in turn, activates HylaFax+ to handle the faxing). So far, though, I don't think I'm getting 100% of the way there. When dialing the fax extension from my

Network cards not recognised
Hi,
We have a HP DL385 G6 server that is having an issue. Two of the 4
network cards are not being recognised by Linux.
We have quite a few other servers with the same hardware and no issues
but, before I call HP, I would like to make sure that I am not doing
anything wrong :)
I have tried with the kernel that came...

Hung XFS filesystems on Samba server
...1. No
software changes have made any difference that I can see in this
problem. Samba shares support ACLs.
Hardware possiblities:
This has occurred in the same 2 disk carriers. I could change the disk
carriers or U320 modules. I worry also about the mix of U320 and U3
disks. I setup a test server dl385 with a 6404 from the problem server
and a disk carrier with mix of drives. I could not recreate the problem.
Software possiblities:
Kernel, Samba, ACLs and XFS. But I have tried many versions and not seen
any logged errors or change in behavior.

(XEN) Platform timer appears to have unexpectedly wrapped 10 or more times.
Hi,
Sometimes, seemingly randomly, long-running Xen domains, using clocksource
xen, have their clock shift by ~3000 or ~36000 seconds, often with the dom0
complaining about clocksource tsc. The number changes if the hypervisor is
explicitly told to use clocksource=pit, but it still happens. It doesn''t
seem to be particularly hardware-specific.

random cpu spikes, EBADF errors
In May I had problem with mongrels suddenly consuming huge cpu resources for
a minute or two and then returning to normal (load average spikes up
to 3.8and then back down to a regular
0.2 over the course of 5 minutes, then again 1/2 hour later. or 4 hours
later, no predictable rhythm).
I posted to Litespeed forums because I thought the problem was there but
didn''t get far. And a week

dialplan logic based on caller ID
Hello!
Is there any easy way to use the caller ID "display info"
(CALLERID(name) in Asterisk) in dialplan just as we could use the number in:
exten => _X./67803287, 1, <action>
I have a SIP GSM device, and when a call comes in, it passes me the
caller ID like so:
-- Sip message Header:
From: "67803287" <sip:gsm@192.168.10.1>;tag=...
-- Asterisk variables:

Migration Problem
...nk I've described this config to the list before but here it is again:
I have 2 x HP DL585 servers each with 4 Dual core Opterons (non-vmx) and 16GB RAM
configured as Xen servers. These run CentOS 5.1 with the latest updates applied. These
system both attach to an iSCSI target which is an HP DL385 running ietd and serving SAN
based storage.
Everything runs fine if I do no migration. I was having a "soft lockup" problem which has
been solved by installing the latest test kernel from redhat. They've adjusted a timer as
described in this report (comment 5): https://bugzilla.r...

Had it with Dell Garbage - HP Question
I've got two DL385s and a DL320, and they all rock. iLO especially rocks, but to leverage the full functionality, you'll need to get the "Advanced License", which opens up full blown remote console capabilities (via Java). It's a separate piece of hardware that, as long as the server PSUs have pow...
