Sampling 1000 times from a bivariate normal distibution
Dear expert,
I have two coefficients and covariance matrix.
My objective is sampling 1000 times from the mean and covariance matrix.
In order to get that, what kind of commend should I use?
If you do not mind, could you tell me the comment in detail about
parameter used in that commend also?
Thank you.
Sung.

Best Linux distibution for ruby on rails developement?
Hi,
I am on Kanotix linux since the first distribution was released by Kano.
However I am tired of the "if it can go wrong it will go wrong on
Kanotix" pattern.
Please recommend a distribution that by your experience is best for ruby
on rails development and need no hour-long tweacks for even "simple"
tasks.
Thanks,
Jan Martin

Needed files from WIN dist. [BEFORE: Windows Installation under WINE]
...misunderstood me. I'm not trying to set up windows to
start using windows in Linux like with VMWare. Why would anyone want to
do that.
My problem is the fact that I need some files from MS-Windows to be
able to run some programs in WINE. Like I need regedit.exe and other
programs in the windows distibution.
I see that most people copy the c:\windows\ directory from a previously
installed windows in another partition or something like that or make
the WINE config point to installed windows somewhere.
I have however no access to previously installed windows on this
computer. I only have the Windows ins...

Doubt regarding priority of classes with HTB
Hi,
I''m a bit confused with the priority of different classes with HTB. How it will be? Will the class with lowest no: have maximum priority?
Any help is most appreciated,
Thanks in advance,

Filling in a uniform dist plot
Hi all,
Apologies in advance if this is really too simple, but I have given a
good shot at this. I'm generating a standard uniform distibution
y <- dunif(x)
plot(x,y,type="l")
This will draw a horizontal line at y = 1. I want to fill the area from
x=(0,1) with a color. I've tried the polygon command to create a
polygon of the same shape, but can't seem to set the parameters to fill
the figure from x=(0,1). I...

Boot Failed: please change disks...
I had to create a single floppy image holding the kernel and initrd of SuSe8.0 distibution. When I boot the computer, it first loads the kernel, and starts loading the initrd. After a short while it halts saying ?Boot Failed: please change disks and press a key to continue.?
The floppy image is served by a PXE server, so I am not sure if the problem I am facing has anything to do wit...

multistratum glm?
Hello,
I routinely use aov and and the Error term to perform analyses of
variance of experiments with 'within-subject' factors. I wonder whether
a notion like 'multistratum models' exists for glm models when
performing a logit analysis (without being 100% sure whether this would
make sense).
I have data of an experiment where the outcome is a categorical variable:

Bug#733865: xen-utils-4.3: qemu-dm is not executable: No such file or directory
...is not clear to me what the difference is between "traditional" and "upstream", or how to select either one. My config file (snaptest.cfg) is nearly identical to the one provided by the distribution in /etc/xen/xlexample.hvm.
I don't know if there are missing files in the distibution. Or if I am missing an important package. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong- and the documentation is inaccurate.
Is it possible to do HVM with Debian?
Thanks,
Marc

Please use colMeans()! was: Re: Calculate Mean of Column Vectors?
There are indeed speed advantages in using colSums etc. However the disadvantage is that the newbie doesn't always find the power inherent in the apply, sapply, tapply and mapply. For many things that I do, the speed is the least of my worries; although I take the point that using apply for means or sums in packages that are distibuted to others is not the way to go.
