GXP 2000 Conference Button and ILBC
Guys.
I just downloaded the recent firmware for GS GXP 2000 and I must say the
phone works great but... How do you make the conf button work?????? Anybody
done that?
Also, with great dissapointment I must ask, where is ILBC support? GS web
page mentions it and the manual says it supports it almost using bolds :)
soooooo where is it????
Any light on this?

SSH hang fix??
It is nice to see that the development of openssh suddenly seems
to have a boost of activity. However I am fairly dissapointed to
see that nobody is actually trying to fix the ssh hanging problem
which I am mainly seeing on Solaris and AIX in conjunction with rsync.
Has anybody from the development team got an ETA of the official
fix for this problem?

Annoying Asterisk Realtime Limitation
Well, this is a major pain in the ass.
I got realtime static working for sip.conf. 'Great!' I thought. That was until I realised I couldn't use it.
Our Asterisk systems are using OSPF and listen on interface lo:1. Asterisk doesn't like to use an interface name for it's bindaddr setting, so you have to put the IP address of lo:1 in there. If you put in 0.0.0.0, it seems to

Ruby at O''Reilly Rough Cuts
Not sure if this is old news or not, but it would appear that both the
Ruby Cookbook and a Rails book are now available for purchase at
O''Reilly Rough Cuts (something akin to PragProg''s beta book program):
http://rubyurl.com/nHz
http://my.safaribooksonline.com/?mode=roughcuts&srchtext=ROUGHCUTS
I haven''t tried them yet, but it definitely seems worth checking out.

CRTC and FCC Feeds
I don't understand why so many government sites fail to provide some
sort of feed to their daily bulletins. What I am venting about in
specific are the Canadian CRTC and FCC sites, every day I have to go
to the website and when I reach the content, usually it isn't even
HTML but a Word or PDF file. So finally today I decided to do
something about it and wrote a little app that scrapes

Bad Bad Performance; Max 20 Calls on Quad Proc?
...s it happens on local
PRI->PRI calls, sometimes it happens on Voip->voip calls.
I've been watching 'top' again. I witnessed the CPU usage on Asterisk
jump to and stay at 47% with 4 calls up. Then it fell back to 1% with
those same 4 calls about 10 seconds later.
I'm very dissapointed in this. Is this what I can expect? I still can't
grasp why asterisk is not using the other 3 processors to better its
performance.
But then again, reading Digium's new benchmarks for their new card this
sorta fits. They benched a dual 3Ghz Xeon and got 120 G729->PRI calls.

More than 50% performance decrease.
I just installed Xubuntu 8.04, Wine 0.9.60 and Warcraft 3.
Ive set it so it uses OpenGL and in game i get less than 30fps with everything on low and a low resolution. On Windows i can run it on medium with 1280x800 at 60fps.
Im new to Xubuntu/linux so i dont know what could be causing it.
Is this expected from Wine?
Specs are 1GB RAM, Intel C2D 1.66GHZ, Intel 945GM onboard graphics.

vorbis ogg vs. aac
...s and guides I got from 2 persons last time, I got a quite low rate
stream in vorbis ogg, in about 5 minutes after reading what you wrote-
Thanks!
Well after that, I pointed my attention to the so called AAC, and after
tweaking a bit I got my AAC stream up and connected to Icecast serv.
I was a bit dissapointed about AAC, as I thought this was better
encoding/compression than OGG. I alpologise if I express my selv badly about
the technical detail, but the thing is that at low bitrates (lets say
between 20 and 80 kbps) OGG sounds a lot better than AAC.
As I still believe AAC is a really good one, maybe som...

[OT] Shared hosting for Rails projects
To much of my dissapointment, the uptime on my TxD account does not
improve.
What alternatives do we have for hosting Rails projects on shared
accounts? I would love to keep lighttpd and the level of control I
have on TxD but wouldn''t like to spend much more (I am currently on
the 25$/month plan).
I won''t need much support, but I would love to have subversion

New version of AWDwR
Folks:
I''ve uplaoded the B1.05 version of AWDwR. It fixes a number of
reported errata (and a few that weren''t reported :), and
adds two significant changes:
1. It now uses the new Active Record decimal -> BigDecimal
conversion. I''ve personally been waiting for this for a long
time, and I''m really happy it''s now part of core. However,

Since 3.0 went into Beta, it has not built on my machine, with the same

its very early in the make so i dont have to wait long to be dissapointed.
It did build with the few alphas i tried.
it looks like it cant find some header files, proto.h, so where is this file?

trouble installing icecast
Hello -
I'm not a Unix guru, but I can get around okay. I'm trying to build icecast
on my system, but when I run the configure program, it ends with the
following error:
"XSLT configuration could not be found"
I could send you the config.log, if that helps. I'm not sure how to solve
this error -- can you provide any pointers? I do have libxslt.so on my
system.

in_place_editor is missing load_text_url option
...dited stuff.
Unfortunately, the example doesn''t use the nifty Rails in_place_editor
method because
ActionView::Helpers::JavaScriptMacrosHelper#in_place_editor doesn''t
suppport a load_text_url option (that would ostensibly be passed on to
the AJAX constructor as loadTextURL). Dissapointed.
I added this line to in_place_editor:
js_options[''loadTextURL''] = "''#{url_for(options[:load_text_url])}''" if
options[:load_text_url]
And now I''m able to create in place editors that get their original text
from the server (not from the DO...
