IAX voice distortion with full upload channel / SIP ok
...on starts. Well of course this is expected. So I fooled around with HFSC QoS scheduling on the remote site Linux machine. The scheduling seems to work as the TOS marked traffic is put in the correct queue and the upload bandwith for other applications is going down. BUT: The voice quality problems definatly stay when using IAX. The funny part: Doing the same with SIP shows no big problems. SIP calls to T-Online work nicely and even if I change the * <-> * link from IAX to SIP everything is fine even with full up-/downloads on the remote DSL connection. My conclusion would be that this depends o...

Cisco ATA 186 with *70
...a dial tone. The strange thing is, its only *70 and not the reset of the 70's. *71, *72, etc all go through fine. I've tried removing the the dialplan all together from the ata to try and let it pass, but no go??? If I setup an IP phone to its extension, *70 goes through fine, so i know its definatly the ata. Anyone know a way around this? Chris -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Massive Virtual Drive, is it possible?
...plications (well yet, I got a MySQL server planned!). What I would like to do, it utilise our basment, which is FULL of oldish hardware, about 20 machines, and maybe change those machines into a massive virtual drive Each machine has between 4 - 10 gigs of hard drive space, and the extra space will definatly come in handy. ( We only currently use about 7 gigs between us) We are currently on a W2k network, and this amount of storage, would come in handy. Thanks in advance for any tips! -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed

Can this work?
I would like to develop a system where by I can boot any of the machines on my system - and select from a menu what I would like that particular client to do. For example, maybe load a bootdisk image from a network share, and boot that. Or boot the first partition on the local disk.

Creating domain list takes too long
Hello -- We have a LAN that consists of a samba domain controller and a bunch of PCs. The samba version is 3.0.20b and the PCs are running Windows XP (sp2). The Windows clients can join the domain without any problem, however, a message saying "Please wait while the domain list is created" shows up right after the first time after the clients join the domain and reboot. Poor quality of low bitrate encoding
In testing, I have found that both MP3 and RealAudio 3(!) are much better sounding at bitrates from 8 to 40-something kbps than Ogg Vorbis. This definatly needs drastic improvents and I know that 1.1 will be focusing on improvements in those areas but that seems pretty far off(a few months minimum) which leaves low-bitrate streams sounding pretty bad. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xi...

2.0.5a configure bug fcntl test on automounted source dir
Hello, I believe that I have found a bug in the 2.0.5a configure process. If the source tarball is extracted to an automounted directory, and you run configure, it will fail the fcntl_lock test, resulting in this message at the end of the configure process: WARNING: No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe To verify that the automounted directory is the problem, I put an "exit

Patch: FC4 spec file
The patch below modifies the spec file for FC4 RPM builds as follows: 1.) Build binaries using the -lmcheck option; various samba commands and smbd process crash badly without; see, for example: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=164353 2.) The Fedora project's samba RPMS install mount.cifs; it would help to have samba.org's RPMS do the same. It would be nice to

Openssh 2.9.x + Pam_Linux
I noticed a bit of odd behavior with openssh + pam_linux a while back. I do not know if anyone else has seen this since there are a few hoops that have to be jumped through. Background: RedHat 6.2 (heavily customized) running on intel box. Running pam-0.72-20.6.x + Openssh-2.9.9p2-1 (both redhat) Problem: Set a user account to expire as of yesterday (via shadow entry) Set the users account

Two Locations, One Domain - LDAP Auth Failure
Hi Dirk, thanks for your reply! I definatly want to go down the BDC route so that I always log on to the nearest server. The link between the two isn't really an issue - both have a DSL connection to the internet. I started by modifying my smb.conf files so that each server is a local master for their subnet, but only the uni box is do...
