Repository wine & debmirror
Hello. At us on work the local repository is created. It is updated by the program debmirror. In Ubuntu 9.04 for creation of a local repository on an original repository should be file Packages.bz2 differently debmirror gives out an error. You in the repository could not create the same file for debmirror? For example http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/jaunty/main/binary-i386/ is Packa...

proper way to mirror apt.puppetlabs.com?
I am wanting to set up a local mirror of apt.puppetlabs.com, and am a
bit confused by the layout as well as the announcement that was made
in this thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-users/browse_thread/thread/0786824ea9531fe3/f53c9006843ab8dc
I''m not sure exactly what I should be pulling, as rsync://apt.puppetlabs.com/packages/apt
gets everything, but it seems like a bit of a

rsync feature suggestion
...pretty good in most, but not all cases.
I am mirroring a debian archive, but unfortunately,
debian mixes all files of several distributions in a
subtree /pool. There is no way to select only the files
of a certain distribution through a simple exclude/include
expression.
There is a tool called debmirror, which first downloads
the distribution index files, extracts all the filenames/paths
of the files needed and then calls rsync for every single file.
Thats certainly not useful, especially since rsync shows the
servers motd for every single file.
Therefore, I'd like to suggest a new option: A...

sernet samba4 on Ubuntu
Yes, it did install a bunch of packages from the sernet site.
So far all the tests are failing. Seems that Sernet put samba under
slightly different directories so I am struggling with testing.
I was hoping there was some documentation on sernet site that I was
having trouble finding, obviously not.
Give me some time. It is just different again (from CentOS howto I had
used in the past.)

apt vrs yum ?
I was checking out Dag's ( not dagw ;-> ) new blog...
I don't know how much, if at all, this has been debated...
http://dag.wieers.com/blog/using-apt-in-an-rpm-world
if he is so adamant about apt over yum, why are we using yum still?
Laziness? ;-) ...or are we just tasty food centric?
Yum yum yum !!!
