Hello. Due that bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1573221) it is needed to install winbind to make domain controller work. But winbind package is absent in dependencies list ( https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_Dependencies#Debian_.2F_Ubuntu) for Debian/Ubuntu. Smbclient is not needed for domain provision, but used for testing of installed domain controller here https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller .
