Rails in Dr. Dobbs Journal ?
Hi, I''ve read that Dr. Dobbs Journal''s last issue has a cover article about Rails titled "Ruby On Rails - Java''s Successor?". Can''t find anything about it in http://www.ddj.com Does someone have the paper edition and can confirm that, and tell how the article looks like, and so on. Thanks, -- Jean-Fran?ois. -- ? la renverse.

I''m Collecting Media Refernces for Ruby and Rails
I''m trying to collect media references (URLs) to articles, podcasts, and videos about Ruby and Ruby on Rails, like this month''s Linux Journal ( http://www.linuxjournal.com/issue/147) or the recent DDJ article ( http://www.ddj.com/dept/architect/187203512). If have such a collections yourself (or just know of some good references), could you please share them on this thread. Thanks, Curt -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://wrath.rubyonrails.org...

another entropy coder that might be very useful
Hello, I want to let you know about an algo that will soon be published and that may be of interest to Vorbis (and other Ogg projects) : http://f-cpu.seul.org/whygee/ddj-3r/ddj-3r.tgz this is the archive of the article i submitted. It describes the "Recursive Range Reduction" algorithm (3R for short) and uses only a few basic computer principles (a binary tree being the most complex structure). Really, it's so simple that i wonder why nobody uses it....

...th native code generation and the CBE. I guess the main point is that GCC is not the compiler to beat, Intel 8.0 is (at least for the template based tests this benchmark was aimed at). Any chance we can get this test suite included in the benchmark? You can find the article online here: http://www.ddj.com/articles/2004/0405/ but you'll need to register. Ruby++ FFI (theoretical)
Hi all, How does this look as a potential FFI for our theoretical Ruby++ ? I''m not sure how to do mixins, though. Some sort of special directive? Or just add it to inheritance chain? Anyway, this is just a rough prototype. No attempt at an actual implementation yet. Regards, Dan // foo.h - Function prototypes #define _FOO_H_ using namespace ruby; // Subclass Object class Foo :

Getting (and displaying) REST data
This is probably more a Ruby question, but somebody here probably knows ;). Is there some handy Ruby or Rails library that can get data from other sites (like Amazon and Flickr) via REST, then return it in nice arrays, hashes, objects, etc.? I''ve searched quite a bit and haven''t been able to really find anything. There is a ruby-amazon library, but it''s for an older

Ruby''s purpose?
Before I get flamed, I just want to start off by saying that I am new to Ruby and I really enjoy this language and want to see it succeed. But, what niche does this language fill? These are serious question, not a put down of the language. Does it has something to offer for Web 2.0? Is it just another scripting language? Does it suppose to replace something else? Does it suppose to work with

[LLVMdev] RFC: AVX Pattern Specification [LONG]
Here's the big RFC. A I've gone through and designed patterns for AVX, I quickly realized that the existing SSE pattern specification, while functional, is less than ideal in terms of maintenance. In particular, a number of nearly-identical patterns are specified all over for nearly-identical instructions. For example: let Constraints = "$src1 = $dst" in { multiclass

Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
