Where to buy a db9 serial port probe
All I apologize if this is slightly off topic, but I'm in the process of trying to get NUT working and I've discovered the need for a serial port probe that is native db9 - native db9 (the thought of hanging a probe plus two db9-db25 adapters plus a cable on a UPS bothers me greatly). I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a little gender changer with a buncha LEDs on it. However, every search for "db9/analyzer/probe/breakout/rs232" and any com...

HP R3000 XR (BCMXCP) serial connection problem: e7!!! and e2!!!
...client called "tor" before the UPS power drains out, I'd prefer to use a direct serial cable instead of network, in case the network doesn't work. I'll manage the UPS trough the ethernet using the built-in HTTP webinterface in the HP UPS Management Module. I've created a DB9-RJ45 cable according to the spec (called "-RJ-45 Serial 1-5 (5-Port)") released by Brian Vo in this forumthread: http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447626+1277983799644+28353475&threadId=1320596 So this is how my cable look like now: DB9-3 <---...

Nut setup with CyberPower AVR900
...status=1) My ups.conf looks like this: [gentoo] driver = cyberpower port = /dev/ttyS0 desc = "gentoo UPS" Permission on /dev/ttyS0 are 777 while I'm testing so I don't think this is a "user" related issue. I've tried this with a straight through DB9 cable and the CyberPower DB9 cable which I was told by tech support was straight through, but not every pin is hooked up. Neither worked. Also, CyberPower has a linux module that works with both cables, but isn't network capable and won't work with my other setup which has its ow...

APC Smart-UPS RT 5000
Hello all I've a brand-new APC box, model Smart-UPS RT 5000, which comes with a black cable RJ48 in one side (10P4C) and RS232-DB9 in the other. The cable reads "940-1525A" in the DB9 side. Which is the best setting (driver and options) to connect this UPS to my computer? It seems not to be recognized by a typical apcsmart driver setting. Many thanks Noel Torres er Envite

Serial terminal issues
I can't seem to get my serial terminal to work with my new system. I had a serial terminal connected to my old system that worked great and copied /boot.config, /boot/loader.conf and /etc/ttys settings over from it. The new system has a Gigabyte GA970A-UD3 board with just a serial header on the board. I bought a serial connector backplate in an electronics store and connected it to the

It is actually a pair of DB9-RJ45 adapters connected with a regular cat5 patch cord. I use these adapters to connect to serial port on servers, switches, routers, etc., and I know it works there. All pins on the adapter are connected, so it should support hardware handshake. > >> I disconnect UPS from Ubuntu system,...

TE405P and E1
Hello Im from Denmark and i've just got my Digium TE405P. But i have some problems when i connect it to my E1 connection (ISDN30). My telco delivered a alcatel box witch have a G.703 120ohm (DB9 with a serial to rj45) and a 75ohm coax connection. I've tried to connect using the 120ohm with rj45 and a ordinary utp cable. TrippLite SmartPro UPS and nut-2.0.2
I have a TrippLite SmartPro UP (SMART3000RM2U) that shipped with the DB9 cable# 73-0866. nut doesn't recognize the UPS using the tripplite driver. I found this page: http://www.tripplite.com/support/download/PA12/help/device.htm The link lists the SmartPro series as using the cables 73-0724 or 73-0844 and the Internet 350/525 is listed as using a cable 73-0866....

FE700VA over USB? controlling UPSes over network?
Lately I replaced my 10+-year-old server with a nano-ITX-type one that has USB but not old serial ports.  I connected my FE700VA to DB25-to-9-to-USB cables, but haven't been able to set it up. Apparently my DB9-to-USB cable (Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port) has issues needing old software (setserial?) and some new software (fconfigure) being changed.  Has anyone managed to do something like this?     I'm still also interested in knowing how to control the three UPSes I have in the hou...

The chips inside are just voltage comparators and doesn't seem to have a proper "serial" data interface, it only has a small board containing a pair of opto couplers going to the DB9 plug. You can see pictures of the output board here (onedrive): http://1drv.ms/1A3ryEp http://1drv.ms/1A3ryEp The only pins used seems to be 2, 4 and 5. ?Is it a RUPS interface? ?What cable pinout do I need to build?
