Cream Text Editor
I'm interested in easing my way into learning VIM by first using the Cream text editor, liking the idea that it will work on both my Linux and Windows computers. I've installed Cream on my Linux machine, but can't figure out how to make Cream talk to R? Does anybody know? I'm using Ubuntu if it makes a difference. Thanks. -- View this message in context:...

Ice cream flavor metaphor in statistical computing
Forgive me, but since it's Friday and I've been thinking about command line options lately, I thought I'd find out who came up with the name of the --vanilla argument for R. p-values
HI R-users, I am trying to repeat an example from Rayner and Best "A contingency table approach to nonparametric testing (Chapter 7, Ice cream example). In their book they calculate Durbin's statistic, D1, a dispersion statistics, D2, and a residual. P-values for each statistic is calculated from a chi-square distribution and also Monte Carlo p-values. I have found similar p-values based on the chi-square distribution by using:...

Labeling matrix data
Hello all - I am sorry if this simple question is addressed in somewhere else. But, I couldn't find it. It's been for about a week using R. . . My problem is: Reading matrix data with "scan" does not seem to allow me to incorporate matrix labels (columns, and rows). If I use read.table, I can import the lables. But, the problem is, I don't know how I make this data as

Resource Bundle Roundup
...(browser) side. If you missed the release, read about it on my blog at http://blog.inquirylabs.com/2006/01/07/easy-resource- management-re-post/. What I''d like to do now is make an appeal to each of you to tell me about or directly contribute to the project so that we can get the cream of all web tools out there in to this very concise and easy-to- use framework for add-on resources. Generally, it takes very little effort to convert a javascript tool or CSS tool in to a bundled_resource. Dynarch was the hardest so far, requiring 2 or 3 hours to integrate cleanly with Rai...

acts_as_taggable plugin: more delimiters?
...h the Recipes book and got to the Tagging chapter, wanted to give it a shot. According to the text, tag_with takes a space-delimited list of tags. Is there a way to use different delimeters, such as commas or single quotes? Some tags can potentially have more than one word, such as ''ice cream''. I''d like to be able to use those without doing something funky like ice_cream or IceCream. Pat

Arabic Wiki pages, again
Could I please, pretty please, with whipped cream and a cherry on top, be given the privilege to alter the most exalted and sublime of pages, the Arabic wiki? :) I'm still pumped up about this and I'm planning on staying pumped up about this for quite some time.

HAML makes me love and hate Python
I''m just a rails newbie, but I thought I would point out a small observation. About a year ago, I was having real trouble making the decision about whether I should learn Ruby or Python. I finally settled on Ruby, one of the reasons being that I didn''t want my language to tell me how whitespace should work. (Although the main reason was how object oriented Ruby is) Although

Tax Preparation with WINE

Web computing seems very much vulnerable to cyberbreaches. I will wait until the cream rises on this approach before tasting. Tax preparation is the pivotal reason for my not completely abandoning Windows. If there are other self-preparers who would like be able to do their taxes on an exclusively Linux machine, I hope that they will inform TAX ACT of such. 2nd Story Software...
